Does anyone have any experience with Orchids ? I have a few questions but Google can't seem to translate them for me laugh

1 .It's not a stalk or a new root , but it has sprouted just a new bunch of leaves where a shoot should come from , so is the mother plant dying ?! And is this a baby ?
2. If the mother plant is growing offshoots that are going to need plucked soon , how long should I leave it till I do so ?!
3. How long is the average dormant stage for a young one under 1 year old ?!

Thanks in advance

I should start a florist thread for the green thumbs and growers . It would be a good idea to have a thread to come back too instead of scrolling the net all the time asking questions .

It might be what they call a “bloom spike” which generally occur during the summer time, and flower few months after. However orchids are temperamental plants and very sensitive to the environment they are growing it.

There are many different types as you know so mmm it is also useful to know what type you have.

As regards no new roots, it maybe the plant needs reporting. They love oxygen, so the soil should not be so compact it can’t breath. If they need reporting then a special kind of mix is required. Don’t get any old crap it won’t work.

Don’t put them in the direct sunlight, they don’t really like it.

I hope this maybe of some help.

I came across a ladies slipper orchid by chance one day it was beautiful. Just hiding itself in the shade next to a stream flowing off mountain i was walking down.wine

Not sure what happened, I posted a reply in response to yours GS and it said I am an unknown. Well now I’m just fine with that, Its the underlining business which I do not have knowledge of or how it got there, I mean how rude just to insert itself without my knowledge! laugh

Ok so I've ordered 5kg of Orchid soil and bark mix, I already do the liquid feed once per week .

So the 2 adults are showing both new roots but not from the base , the new roots are coming from the old roots . I have a stalk btw on 1 , my first flowering applause very excited ..

It's the second one that's giving me pause , instead of a flower spike , its actually a new set of leaves , does that mean its dying at the bottom ?! In aloe pups grow off the side of the mother and drain her , is this what's going to happen to thus one ? Its just 4 double mini leaves , no shoot .

The baby one is still potted in the clay mulch , its only got 4 tiny wee leaves laugh But I don't know what to do with it laugh

Thank you for the advice bouquet
