Due to his own past experiences of a black boy being raised in a single parent home of 5 children, this man has helped deprived families during the Summer holidays This 22 year old Premier League footballer has made the Government do a U turn regards free summer holiday school meal tickets to help child poverty in the U.K.

A real feel good factor in today's volatile world. Well done Marcus you are a credit to your Mum Melanie.applause applause applause

The fallacy that all black people are bad is pushed by certain media and ignorant hard right followers who think they are better than everyone else. It can be seen over and over here on CS. These people are so insecure they pick up on any bad news and then exacerbate it. These are the same people who cannot accept that others can have a differing opinion to their own, and so vilify them as a way to try and show they are better.
In reality, these people would run away, if they were confronted in real life, they're cowards hiding behind a computer or phone, pathetic and we should feel sorry for them.
There are far more like Rashforrd than most ever realise!

To me it was a feel good factor that someone from an underprivileged family who was adopted by a football team at a very young age and now in a position to help others has stood up and been counted.handshake

Good. They need some positive role models in the black community because we are leading them to disaster. Just because he’s black we have to like him? That’s no good for anyone.

I have removed the word black. Ones skin colour should not be relevant.
He does remain humble despite his earned wealth, and pushes forward to help those children less fortunate.
A role model that others with such earned wealth could learn from

imo

No it should not be relevant Almera but unfortunately with some posters it truly is. His accomplishment in making this a Government issue shows his strength of character, and as you say, a role model not just to the wealthy of today ,but to the youth of today as to what one can achieve if you strive for it.handshake

Well done Marcus...applause

Coming from what was once the largest council estate in Europe, Wythenshawe, Marcus would certainly have experienced a relatively deprived childhood.
It's so refreshing to see a young person rise out of such a situation to become richer than he could ever imagined, yet still care about those much less fortunate than himself and show that by his selfless actions.

I'm not sure though why the fact that he's of black origin has to be even been mentioned, let alone been made an issue. He's a remarkable young man from a Manchester overspill council estate who clearly cares for those less well off than he now is.
Race has nothing to do with it.

I am unable to post images and was not sure anyone would bother to look at the link as rightly or wrongly there are some on C.S who are prejudiced, and I was hoping for some social awareness from others to understand just what some people can achieve. and still have a good heart towards others.handshake

It was all over twitter yesterday , everyone going wild over the fact he's just 22 , and you've got to admit it's great to see that gen finally showing the world they aren't as useless as they are made out to be laugh

It's good news though , and it brings some humanity back into the forefront again! bouquet

Some can't help themselves conversing

The fact that it's the most humanitarian thing I've seen happen in the last couple of weeks brings it back home how little we have to smile about now . This was something that should never have happened to begin with , but cause and effect . The fact is ,he has fed a nation of children and if that isn't worth cerebrating then what is ?!

Our children will remember this , the adults won't so the fact that it's mainstreamed , the better I believe . Crossed fingers this is the first of many of the better fights

thumbs up

This should be a thread to celebrate the difference one young man can make to so many. Due to his selfless actions, literally tens of thousands of struggling families will benefit.

This is a good news story....in case some haven't noticed.
