Sawdust_Molly: Noo! Also typical for Dutch people!
In Belgium, the Dutch are known for their stinginess!
That is correct, but there is a reason for it.
When the boss pays our salary we get only 35-65% of the money we earned, the rest is tax. For everything we buy in store we pay another 21% tax. We pay extra tax on fuel, tobacco and alcohol, I think the Netherlands have the most expensive fuel in the world, not sure, but at least in Europe we are the most expensive.
Then our monthly things we have to pay, rent or mortgage, our healthinsurance that costs us over 100 euro's a month, electricity, gas, water, the yearly tax for the city where someone lives and the sewerage can also rise till over 1000 euro's, and so more and more people in my country have hard times to survive.
Due to covid 19 we expect 500.000-1.000.000 more people without a job next year.

So we might be stinginess, but lots of people have no money. They have to ask for free food and clothes, they can't pay for a holiday and in the mean time the dutch government is giving money away to africa and fugitives. They spend over 2.000.000.000 euro's on a buslane from 10 km's so the bus will drive 2 minutes faster between 2 cities, and every fugitive that is allowed to stay gets a free house with everything he needs.

PeKaatje: Well every country got it's own things that they're famous for.
The Netherlands for cloaks, windmills and cheese, and of course the waterworks and the flowers.
England for their humor whiskey and ale, the famous buildings in London, Scotland for it's Haggis, that nobody wants to eat, except the scottish.
Belgium for it's beer and french fries (don't know why they call them french fries), America for it's cars and fat food and fat people, the army, the statue of liberty and the skyscrapers.
Italy for the Pisa-tower, Pizza and spaghetti
And Russia for the Kremlin and Russian Roulette.

Well, let's hear it...
Orangemen (Orange Order)

Orangemen are Irishmen who in order to be thought of as Englishmen, march dressed as Scotsmen in honour of a Dutchman..
