I think they just can't be bothered?

I guess a great deal depends upon your own skill as a conversationalist ... asking 'closed questions' for example ... leads to brief or even one word ( Yes / No ) answers.
But HERE is not the place find deep and meaningful conversation under every stone ... it's a rare and wonderful thing with emphasis on RARE !!!
