F Bombs (25)

Jul 9, 2020 4:52 PM CST F Bombs
Used to be people thought that our choice of words indicates how we’ll treat others.... if we use disrespectful language, is it true that we will be disrespectful in other ways. hug

Lots of people avoid using these word grenades around kids or their own parents. So why would they not extend the same respect to friends? Is it ok for a doctor or other professional to use F bombs in the clinics, hospitals or other medical offices?

So, what the F do you think about all that ?

I remember the days when two men were talking and the F bomb slipped out. I was within hearing distance and when they saw me they said "excuse me ma'm".

During those same years I know that my father used the F bomb because he worked on a railroad but he never used it at home with his family.

My husband never said it towards me except one time after our divorce when he learned that I was dating someone. We were in a restaurant and when he said it I walked out and left him alone.

In today's world using the F bomb is as common as having sex on a first date with a stranger which I do not practice.

If doctor or other professional used the bomb towards me I would report them to his/her superior. I am respectful to all that I meet. I expect the same respect.

I've been on CS 14 years. When I joined rarely was the bomb abbreviation used. Now it is unlikely you will read a thread where the bomb isn't used throughout the thread in addition to other vulgar language.

If a person can't express themselves without vulgar language that shows the need for more education.

Among other experiences I heard a doctor use the F bomb around his staff in anger after leaving a patient In an exam room. I didn’t care but some of his staff walked away while others kind of laughed

Many people claim the character Malcome Tucker was based on Alistair Campbell, Tony Blair's advisor and press secretary 97-2000.
Campbell certainly had quite an influence on Blair, that is for sure. But whether he used so many profanities, I guess we'll never know.

I understand where you're coming from SA. We never swore in front of our 3 kids. We didn't even say "bloody hell" let alone drop the F bomb. I wouldn't even allow any of my kids to say "Jesus Christ, for God's Sake. etc....My daughter is now 43yrs old and she won't allow her 2 kids to take the lords name in vain. I'm not religious but to me personally, hearing kids saying "Jesus Christ or for God's Sake" is far more upsetting to me than the F bomb. My grown up kids wouldn't use any of those words to me anyway. My eldest son dropped it a couple of times but then realised what he'd said, he was like "sorry Mum, I didn't mean to say that. I think the F bomb is just used in convo these days. To be honest, it takes more breath dropping the F bomb between every other word than in a normal convo. I've never heard my grandkids use it. Maybe they were warned beforehand. I remember many yrs ago, my youngest son who's now 30, coming home from Primary school aged 8 and saying the word C**t A word that I would never use, even to this day. I sat him down and I tried to explain to him what the word CT meant. So that he would understand if he wanted to use that word. It's shame that words don't matter anymore. I've seen the changes over the years bouquet

I don't think anyone is at all shocked by it nowadays apart from those who make a big show of 'being offended' by well, almost anything at all !

It's a part of every day language isn't it - commonly used all over.

But oddly in may places if you use in conversation with a police officer, council office staff or a member of the judiciary it will land you with 'abuse' charges or contempt of court etc etc

Funny ole world innit ...

I think HBO desensitized a lot of people to swear words too.

The Sopranos .... Caution ... adult language besides F bombs.

Are you referring to the Billy Connolly video? They were all Celebrities in the audience and I couldn't see anyone smoking. Maybe I missed something? Ringo was in the audience (my dream man) and he used to smoke 40 marlboro fags a day dunno

I admit I've used the F-word in any way it can be used. A noun, descriptor, verb, place, adverb.......
Tis all good providing you show the respect for the word. Priests, clergy, the elderly or children wont appreciate the meaning of the word or the significance. In order to convey the intensity, joy, disappointment, gratitude, love, etc., the F word covers it all and does so quite nicely.
Don't think so? Go stub your toe and you'll be singing it!!!!
