What will you do when you are retired? (33)

Jul 14, 2020 12:46 PM CST What will you do when you are retired?
Well, most people are working their arse off all day, and in the evening they just are tired, watch some tv, have some drinks, maybe go to the pub.
But what will you do when you are retired? You don't have to wake early, or go to work.
Your parents are probably no longer there, so visiting them regularly ain't possible.
Have you any ideas already?

Maybe else you'd better start thinking, else you are retired and just sitting, waiting to die. That would be sad, wouldn't it?

And what you still can do. You will have less income, your body is not the one of a 20 year old man anymore.
I have to work till I'm 67.5 years old, I hope to be in good shape then.

I'm working more since semi-retiring (Stuck in the UK permitting) than when in full time. I love my work, not for the money as I am very comfortable, but I would go mad if I did nothing. I intend to continue to work until I am physically unable. As soon as the airports and flights resume I will be extremely busy.
Retirement is a new beginning for me with lots of opportunities to travel and meet interesting people, I should have retired 10 years ago lol.

I will say this, when you Retire you will have to learn to live life all over again...
The setting the Clock for work will no longer be a factor...It will take a while for the adjustment ( a Major Adjustment) You will need to find SOMETHING that you really like to do, or always wanted to do, and do it....If you like woodworking, start making cabinets or Building a Hotrod Car that you always dreamed of...for some Golf gets you away from those head scratching moments of displacement...These are just a few Ideas that may help...Myself I have some property in the Country, I have been gardening and spending time at my pond fishing, and considering building a Bee Box, for Honey Bees, as they have become nearly an endangered species in my area...It would just be interesting and something that would keep someone occupied for a while, and also do good for the environment, and Free Honey as a bonus...

Here is how to attract them to a Bee Box...wink laugh

Their are Hundreds of Videos available... It is just something that I am considering, and yes, you can do this in the City too.. You can also buy Bee Boxes on the Web and delivered right to your door...

The big thing is ENJOY Retirement..You earned it...pointing

Last Resort, Sit in your chair and read all the Crazy stuff on CS..doh rolling on the floor laughing

Retired??? I'll be late for my funeral because I'll have to work the shift that morning. There is no retirement for me unless I win a big lottery or a wealthy man......
Good thing my work shoes are ready.....

I retired early but then the Uk Government put the State Pension up. 6 yrs for me so only 18th months to go now.grin Luckily for me, I had a couple of investment's that has kept me going but now. I'm moving back to the Uk and why not? I do want to move back as my family are there but also, why shouldn't I claim benefits at my age when I've worked all my life? and I'm unable to claim them in Spain. It's a sad story of affairs when the Uk Government can pay out "£1000's to "some" and I mean "some" youngsters that have never worked at day in their lives? I understand that many youngsters are possibly out there every day trying to find work but then again in honesty, some are just lazy buggers. When I was a youngster in the "olden days" If you hadn't paid your NHS contributions for 13 weeks, you got bugger all: I must admit that none of my 3 kids have ever claimed a penny from the Uk Government so I will be the "odd one out". They can't complain though. The Government have had my 40yrs NHS contributions of which I'm very proud ofapplause
This will be me when I eventually get back to the Uk.rolling on the floor laughing

Hi hotrodLarry, I don't have any bees,I've enough wild ones lol... but I have been planting plants specifically for the bees and pollinators for years now. and one thing I will say is to get rid of any Rhododendron, the bees might like it (not a whole lot though) but apparently it poisons the honey and by extension the larva.there are other plants that are poisonous for the bees too but I dont have them in my garden so I've forgotten what they are :)

The Spanish know how to party. We don't need alcohol. We don't need the Brits coming here to ruin what we have achieved just so they can put us back into a "lock down" Stay in the Uk and let Spain deal with our problems...

I'm hoping to keep working in my current job, which I love, as long as I can conversing

I'm 64 now and can retire on a pension in two years.

But having had a break in my working life a few years back I found myself bored out of my mind, there's only so much gardening, cooking, shopping, reading etc that you can do sad flower

My work gives me purpose, it's challenging, rewarding and satisfying thumbs up
