My little dog is four and a half years old now, his enthusiasm for life is a delight to see but I feel it's over the top ..

He's on high alert all day and can't seem to relax, he also appears to have separation anxiety conversing

I'm thinking I'll get him a therapy vest, does anyone have any experience with these?

Thanks in advance handshake

How does a person become middle class to the extent where they even make their dog self-conscious? More money than sense.

My cousin used a therapy vest for her dog when there were thunderstorms. It seemed to work for that dog. Hers worked similar to a weighted blanket only in vest form.

Get a second dog of the same breed as a company for your current dog. Dogs are pack animals.

Have worked with a few dogs that suffer greatly from SA . I’m sure you’ve already tried leaving the TV on and leaving for 5 mins ? Returning ? And extending the time each time ?
So the dog is secure you return.
Therapy vests I normally only use for dogs who are reactive to thunder/ fireworks. And they can help a great deal. Have never attempted to try on a dog with SA .... would be careful to approach with this as a tool. And maybe use it while you’re in the property as well? So not to associate with the coat and you going out ?
Also have you tried plug in calmers ? They work wonders xx
Good luck handshake

It's a kind of jacket that applies gentle pressure to the animal which can help with anxiety and over excitement conversing

This little guy is quite independent for the most part and a very good boy.
However I've realised that he is quite hyperactive and that may be to do with his breed (I assume he has some terrier in him).
He follows me everywhere and picks up on every nuance; if I use hairspray he assumes I'm going out and he's coming too.
If I wear certain clothes, shoes etc ... same.

This isn't so much of an issue as I don't respond to his reactions, it's more about his hyperactivity and hyper reactions to every sound and movement outside of the house, he never seems to relax confused

I'd love to do that Tulefell and I know he'd love that too but mine is a rental property and I'm only allowed one pet sigh

Taralyn: Some dogs become very destructive when left alone... aka separation anxiety The vests are supposed to be like a big hug while the parents are away.
I has a dog that would pee in the house if I went out to the clothesline and shut the door behind me.
I'm a big believer in rubbing their nose in it, and tossing them outside.. That won't make me any friends on here, but it is effective.. My house smells better too..

Fortunately my little guy has never had this problem conversing

He's a very well-behaved boy but I'm thinking that I'm accepting his hyperactivity like I did when he was a puppy but he isn't one any more conversing

It's not a big deal, he's not destructive or anything like that, I just would like to help him be a bit more calm confused

Mind you, he's a show-stopper laugh

Each morning when we walk, his exuberance and happy face sees grown men stop in their tracks to greet him and give him a pat laugh

Thanks Mikey.

This boy was basically a rescue, a puppy who was neglected for the first several months of his life and I kept saving him as he escaped a neighbour's property and took him back each time sigh

I used to hear him barking as a baby on cold late nights and I'd sneak over and pick him up, bring him back and feed and cuddle him then take him back and pop him back over the fence, reluctantly..

Ultimately they asked if I wanted to have him and I said yes, my previous little senior dog had passed away about a year before and I was ready grin

It was meant to be, he's a spectacular handsome boy and I've never regretted it hug :
