The UK government decision to impose a 14-day quarantine on everyone arriving from Spain was "unjust", the country's prime minister has said.
Pedro Sánchez said tourists in most Spanish regions would be safer from coronavirus than in the UK, and he was hoping Britain would rethink its move.
He said talks were ongoing after the UK also advised against all but essential travel to the whole of Spain.
Labour said the government's handling of the restrictions had been "chaotic".
But the UK government said it has no plans to change its decision to reintroduce the quarantine measures - with Boris Johnson's official spokesman warning that "no travel is risk-free during this pandemic".
Asked about the risk to holidays to other destinations, junior government minister Simon Clarke said the possibility of the rules changing "has to be factored in".
"By all means go on holiday but understand that there is a chance you may be asked to self-isolate upon your return," he said.

Why would anyone want to travel with this virus still not under control.
Oh I know why, it's a figment of some people's imagination.

Also Morocco closed several cities again, a few months back we had a lot of trouble getting people back from Morocco, and now they went there again. Morons, screw them. Hope the dutch government won't help them anymore.

Tom, you should not not to believe what you hear on TV. Pedro Sanchez is a liar! Spain is NOT safe!
He was furious at the news and said it was disgusting! Now he wants to retaliate and impose the same on the Brits coming here!!!
I just wrote a blog about our situation..for your information
More bumbling and on the hoof legislation by the government. Many thousands have been waiting for restrictions to be lifted or 'air corridors' to be established before they travelled. Most of these are not in a position to quarantine for two weeks after their holiday. So no sooner than the quarantine requirement is lifted and thousands jet off to Spain, the quarantine period is reintroduced leaving holidaymakers in a very bad situation through no fault of their own. Why didn't the government at least give a couple of weeks notice in order to allow those already out in Spain to return home to the same arrangements that were in place when they left the uk? And why include the Balearic and Canary Islands in the restrictions when seemingly, they are, at this moment safer than the uk?
So much confusion cause by such faltering leadership has been a shortcoming of government throughout this entire period from day one.

I wish states here would shut borders! Ticked at Chicago. They put Wisconsin on a list that if you are not just passing through, must quarantine for two weeks. YEAH?! Well which state has the highest numbers?? And which state is sending tons of tourists to here? The Dells area is the mass destination for Chicago and Milwaukee...areas with most new cases. So it is all right that they flood up here and congregate at the resorts and spread covid. But, we put THEM at risk? If the whole world could shut down for two weeks, we would all be in the clear.

To be honest with you Tommy. I feel very sorry for people that had booked holidays way back in February, before any lock down. My friends family etc 32 of them were due to fly out at the end of August. They've paid 2.000 euros for a villa plus apartments and flights. It must be heart braking for them, saving up most of the year and only now just finding out that they can't come.
The borders were opened far too soon plus Spanish Regions......IMHO
It's not only people in Spain spreading the virus......
