blathin: Oh God Miss C..my feet are dancing here at that.....9 days headless...?? that's sooo creepy...

Would they bite you?
Cockroaches can't bite so I'm told but they would be the last surviving things living on earth apart from the fish, creatures living in the sea. I don't know. It's just something that I'm interested in bouquet

I haven't heard of Sea Bears. I love nature but more intriqued with sea life as I don't think we know everything that's under the sea. I love watching the bears catching the salmon when they're swimming up river. Under the sea, my favourite is the "Mantis Shrimp" Looks a bit like a praying mantis but has the biggest and hardest punch. It's taken me years to watch and take in a lot of information. The one creature that I still can't comprehend is the Komodo Dragon, one bite from one of those and you're dead within hours. A lot of them live on the Galápagos Islands. Well at least I know I'm safe thumbs up

Ah no, sorry Miss C, that's my fault I should have explained it a bit better. They're not sea life, they're tiny little creature that are extremely old and can survive anywhere and depending on their environment can alter their DNA to suit the environment. They can also dry themselves out, curl up and go into a sort of stasis, until conditions are right for them and that could be thousands of years....if memory serves me correctly they've been found in ice cores too...so pretty amazing..The link I put there is to a national geographic piece on them.

Oh I've seen pictures/videos of those Komodo Dragon, My chinese sign is the Dragon..sure we're lovely creatures lol....

blathin: Growth promoting antibiotics Jimgi?.? Are you sure? I thought they were two different things?

But yes I'm just as worried about the chemicals and pesticides as I am about all the other crap being fed to our animals,..e.g. molasses..since when did cows need molasses?? I will always buy organic where I can and locally grown but you can't beat being able to go out into the garden and pull your own veg...

but at least here in Ireland we're lucky enough to have grass fed beef and dairy, not like the poor unfortunates in the US who are fed..well..I dunno what you'd call it really, because when I was there it sure didn't taste like proper food, the meat has this really awful dry after taste ..
I'm sure. Why else would they be pumping antibiotics into animals.Otherwise, animals would only be getting minimal amounts of antibiotics for things like mastitis & pinkeye etc.

As far as molasses goes,it's neither chemical or pesticide. It's refined sugar beet or cane & perfectly safe(nearly to the point of being organic)
I've only seen it used where the quality of feed (like silage) was so poor that cattle wouldn't eat it.

actually animals are (or should be) sedated before they are slaughtered. We have several animalfriendly slaughterhouses in the Netherlands, but there are a lot of scandals, animals aren't treated the way they should, has been a big scandal, for they sell us the meat for more money.
Muslims don't even sedate their sheep, they just cut their throats. And they don't care if it isn't their sheep, they go to kindergardens and just steel them, slaughter them in the kindergarden, leaving everything they can't use of the animal. Next day the people working there may found the dead animal. It's disgusting.
