howdy cat—I’m afraid you’re on to something. I’ve been saying this sort of thing for awhile, now. And currently, with the pandemic, and so many people isolated at home, internet usage is exponentially increasing. Heck, I’m even using it much, much more than I used to. AND, I am NOT liking that about myself. It’s very clear to see how it can quickly become an addiction, in its own right. What’s the answer? I find myself purposefully setting a “timeframe” for it, and I’m actually sticking to it. I don’t know if “ruining” is accurate, but no doubt about it it is compromising.
Yes, seems everyone search the internet for help instead of Searching for God these days. Can the kiddies or the parents on your island afford small high-tech electronic internet accessing devices? Maybe the kiddies in school there share them among friends instead like they do their face masks there.

yes you are right roh, it can easily become an addiction especially when you are separated from your loved ones.
I am using nearly everyday instead of once a week, i don't know what the answer is
I've thought so for years. The concept of the internet was a brilliant one, but it has brought about decay in so many ways that the negatives far outweighs the positives.
I can’t speak for anyone else but I know I’m spending way too much time online think it’s just boredom. Before Covid I would have been out with friends a lot hardly ever checked my phone .
Thankfully it hasn’t effected how I interact with people in the real world.
But I do see with my nieces and nephews they are much more outgoing in appearance on social media then they are in person
Do many people stare at their phone 24/7 and not notice what's going on around them Is mobile phone addiction a massive problem...cause of the online options Do children play outside with their friends...or play around online with their phones

Communication used to be....pen and paper...talking on the phone and face to face...but a lot of it...is online these days...but some can't be themselves online and I think it has damaged the dating scene

I agree entirely! I still like writing letters to special friends on occasions. It's certainly more personal. I do miss it though!
On a dating site people prefer to hide behind their keyboard.
As for WhatsApp texting, it's ok for short messages but certainly not for conversations. Why not phone and hear the person's voice?

well, I must say that due to the fact that everybody wants to be busy with his own stuff on his pc, ipad, smartphone or whatever, children hardly play together anymore. So they become socially weak. I also see children are very busy with all kinds of other stuff, like sports and music. They hardly have time to play. A child can't be a child anymore. In the nature, when you see young animals playing, often they practice their huntingskills and other usefull stuff.
I'm afraid in 50 years we have a really strange world.
All things then will be connected, like smartspeakers, washing machines etc. And due to the fact that people are sitting more and more, there will be much more fat people. Healthy food won't help against that.
blathin: Nope, sorry Rohaan, I really don't agree with that notion..that may be the case in the western world but for millions the internet is completely changing their lives for the better..
There is a well-proven research that the creative process is directly connected to the hand and brain motion facilitated by actual writing while thinking. Using a keypad eliminates, to a large degree, this process. Some people become so addicted to sitting at a computer that they abandon other activities, relying on machinery to satisfy human interaction. Kids and adults need to be out in nature, absorbing natural benefits of life. The computer/internet, while useful, does not accomplish that. I am not against it. It is my observation that all too frequently the internet nurtures laziness. It’s absolutely fine to use it as a tool. Unwise to rely on it for everything, or almost everything. There is now rehab for internet addiction. People have to be retrained to live ordinary lives. That’s a problem.
