ElysianFields: Elon Musk is now wealthier than Mark Zuckerberg. Their wealth is measured in hundreds of $ billions.
How much money would you need to feel 'comfortably wealthy'?
Only in a material world would the word 'need' and the word 'wealth' be in the same sentence... I knew a couple. She is extremely wealthy and so is all her family. They have been wealthy for generations. Her husband married into her money. The difference between the wealthy woman and her husband is that she exudes wealth in the way she doesn't 'make a fuss about it' ...he on the other hand can't spend more than a few minutes without 'needing to feel 'their wealth' by making comments to 'show how wealthy they are'
Some people like that man could never feel comfortably wealthy. They live in fear of scarsity... Other people feel comfortably wealthy when their every day life needs are met. They live in a state of abundance...
Having loads of money...........rich.......is not the best thing. In the world............being rich. Can also.......mean .....a person who treats his/ her friends.........with respect..........cares............always there for them.........when needed.........that's worth more then. Money....
I have enough to buy any needed things and sensible wanted things. I grew up around millionaires. They were the ones working in their business at night after workers went home. Lived in nice homes, drove cars that were several years old and lead boring lives. If one is greedy, no amount is enough. The more you buy, the more you want. And then have so much, you don't own it, it owns you. Houses never used. Rooms never entered. Possessions never worn or seen, driven nor enjoyed. Vacations taken because it is the trending place to be. As long as you know you can afford it, no need to own it. If you can pay cash, owe no one, have a roof over your head and able to shingle it, enjoy foods you like and provide for those you love and are loved...then you have all you need.

Best comment of the lot. My definition of 'wealth' is freedom. And to your point, the more you own, the less free you are.
Another yardstick of wealth imo is this - if you can go on holiday for 3 weeks, and the business you own carries on profitably without you, you are truly blessed.

Wealth like everything else is relative
That's a beautifully story you told there Selenite :) and so so true too about the scarcity/abundance thing.
