I don't think men respond well to verbal compliments. When they are working all day they like to know that a hot meal will be there when they get home, that their laundry is done and the checkbook balances. Men aren't hard to please.
The best thing you can give a man is to show appreciation for who he is and what he does for you.

One day I met a former aquaintance in the pub, and he's always having the smart mouth. Well, in that pub he said to a girl: You have beautiful eyes. And I said after: Yeah, but her body sucks. Away was his chance for a romantic night.
Because if a woman doesn't respect a man, she never will And if a woman looses respect for a man, chances are, he will never, get it back (And God help him)
For me to compliment a man on a personal level face to face it would have to be because I find their presence and vibration pleasant/attractive/magnetic... and so I would say 'You have an amazing presence and I find your vibration attractive or pleasant or magnetic' ...whichever applies... If he doesn't know what I'm talking about there won't be any further discussion necessary on that personal level...
I regularly compliment people, men and women in my day to day. Many are very caring and thoughtful and I tell them I noticed and thank them naming what they did which I appreciated. I think it's important to let people know they are being noticed and what they do matters and how beautiful they are, rather than only 'see' people when you want something from them ...
For me it would be, if it's true, to tell him how I love his voice and his accent and that I could listen to him for hours..
I had an Irish friend and his accent was....out of his world I could listen to me for hours although I could only understand only about half of what he was saying.
