Particularly endearing because the phonetic version underneath is for the benefit of English speaking Welsh people rather than non-Welsh people.
Most Welsh place names are descriptive, this particular one meaning "The church of Mary in the hollow of the white hazel near the fierce whirlpool and the church of saints by the red cave".
