We made the mistake of flying to Montreal instead of our destination, Toronto because it was much cheaper. Our plan was to travel onwards to Toronto by bus but we soon found out that long haired hippys were not welcome in Montreal.
Anyway, after spending five days under armed guard in and around Montreal airport they sent us packing.
Mind you, my friend setting fire to the airport toilets as a protest didn't help matters. They couldn't wait to get rid of us.

doh

Maybe you were wearing beards then too. Never trust a man who wears facial foliage was a common mind set in that day.

Track16: I live on a island off Canada's east coast called Newfoundland. Traditionally a fishing province, though a few technical firsts happened here such as receiving the first ever wireless message from Europe and fiber optics was invented here.

Anyhow I'll shut up and show you the goods

Track16: As the story goes, when the first people arrived here, they said the cod fish was so plentiful that you could lower baskets from the ship and scoop them up.
just wondering—does it stay so beautiful most of the time? The pictures I’ve seen always seem bright, sunny, no snow, etc...

Maybe, that and the long hair, bright flared trousers and a hint of patchouli oil.....laugh

We did get off lighty though, they were going to throw us in Quebec prison for 28 days, but B.O. A. C. stepped in and offered to fund our return flight back to the UK. Then they spent the next two years chasing us for the fare.
They never got it of course.

No snow??

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!!

Jeez, I remember having a halloween costume big enough to fit over a snowsuit because there would be a foot of snow by Oct 31. We still get the same amount of snow whether it starts Nov 1 or Jan 1. By the time it's all said and done...... averages out to about 500-600cms depending on where you live.
St. John's, in January, had almost 100cms in one weekend.

Sometimes we get a ice storm (freezing rain). The results can be pretty nice as long as you don't mind losing the power
