For those who have seen the film “The ultimate gift”...
It touches on important life lessons, where the main character, in order to receive the inheritance his grandfather had left him, must set out on a journey of self-discovery to earn the true gift his grandfather meant for him to have. The twelve gifts were;
The value of hard work, The value of money, The value of friendships, The value of learning, The value of problems and challenges, The value of family, The value of dreams and how to turn a dream into reality, The value of giving, The value of gratitude and being thankful, instead of taking things for granted. The value of Love and that “Success" is following your passions, helping those around you and reaching the end of your life knowing that you have made a difference in the lives of others that you love and those who love you.
Maybe you can add to the list?
The story inspires people to realize that, the “only way you can truly get more out of life for yourself. is by helping others”.

Giving feels good because it means you're great enough to have accrued a surplus. Why not use the surplus for that purpose when you're as good at killing antelopes as you are.
But the problem is the thoughtless beneficence of a mad old woman. If children were raised by their grandmothers we would soon run out of antelope. The tribe has lost its nerve, it can't hunt.

Yes, giving feels good, but doesn't necessarily mean you have a surplus? Or maybe it's showing us that we can share things and learn to live with less?
Antelopes? Do you think they're in great danger, chris?
Stay curious, accept uncertainty. From that state of being life flows without constriction......

It doesn't cost anything to help someone, and the good feeling you get is worth it...
Antelopes? ... my brother called them, speed goats... There's plenty of Antelopes around here, I hate to see the city growing, and taking over the area where Antelopes have grazed forever, city planners don't care about wildlife, grow baby, grow! ... I like watching the male Antelope watch over his herd of females, ready to fight or chase off other males...
And I guess generosity has to spread universally to a man. The system develops everywhere at the same rate so that we forget how to hunt unaminously. Obviously the west is currently falling to pieces because of the much more numerous coloured people's who can still hunt. I do not believe that philanthropists will be successful in making the world as weird as white people.

Although psychiatric medicine was not my specialty field, I worked with it enough to have observed some hallmarks of the overall discipline. When a patient is admitted for depression/ emotional breakdown and/ or similar chief complaint(s), after stabilization—including a full night’s sleep, they are given tasks and put on a routine schedule. During therapy, the adage of helping others is discussed thoroughly. This ties in with the ancient philosophy that overcoming situational depression can often be lessened or even eliminated by focusing on the needs of others. Amazingly, it works.

Well I can speak from the heart and life experiences that it so true!! Before my husband died and though we had 8 children we both did a lot of community work for the children in our area, I ran the youth club with 2 other mammies and all those children where treated like our own. My husband was on the board of management in their school. So when I lost my husband to suicide the amount of support, compassion and help I received from all ages in our area was amazing, so much so it is hard to put in to words!! Both my children and myself have never forgotten it. I haven’t seen that film so will make it my business to see this weekend! Thank you Al for highlighting it

I like that concept Bod as nothing in life is guaranteed. I like to think of life as a gift.
It stands out to me how fragile generosity. One day your life may depend on risking your life and this is the basis of tough love. To face the flu so that civilisation may yet be saved. Returning the favour for everything it has done for us.

You're right, we're taking over all the animals territory little by little.
Look what they're doing in Borneo..cutting all the trees where the orangutans live, all for the palm oil industry.
My contribution...I don't buy palm oil or any products that contain it.
