Was reading an article recently that puts forward the idea that no one above the age of 65 should be eligible for presidency or Prime minister. Makes sense to me, but what top age would you suggest?
I think 50 with a max term of 8 years, for the most senior position, other government positions should have a max age of 70. Especially in the UK's House of Lords and in the US's Supreme Court. The retirement age in the UK is 67 now and due to rise to 69.
CossackCat: Age limits and term limits for ALL government employees, including desk jobs
I think 60 -65 and a serve a MAX of 6-8 yrs.
I don't think there should be any upper limit, but medical checks. I retired, against my will but carried on from home writing programs for twice the money, go figure.

I think the best age is about 45-50. Someone who is in the middle of his age has sympathie for the young and the old people. While old people often are having problems with the young people and vice versa.
That was not in my case, when I was 16 I became a member of the chessclub, and I talked as easily with the old people as with the guys from about my age. I even visited one of the older members in hospital.
But I think, my brains were old for the age I had then.

Half agree, but think for a senior government position it should be lower than 70, I intend to keep working until I feel it is too tiring for me. But what about builders? Those who have manual jobs? How can they work after say 65? It would be too dangerous and life threatening for many. I believe the retirement age for collecting a pension should be 65 but those who wish to continue working past 65 can do so, thereby adding to their pension and taking pressure off the government to find enough money.

I'm sure mother nature will have a say, but can't argue with most of what you say.
Particularly now that it doesn't know history. Historical awareness is the only way to change track and alternate from the endless repetition of the current momentum. He who does not know history is doomed to repeat it etc. The younger man would have to be a bit of a nerd like that, a great affection for the oldendaysers does not mean that he does not think for himself.
And if you look at history the vast majority of it is the filler between decisive moments. The 1930s was the last time that destiny was in our hands, fate can be revised perhaps every 100 years.
Nothing really happens until the old show breaks down but the new testament does not replace the old. Cromwell was a half revolution progress has to be supported by that sense of living in the past but you're not. Nobody really wins in history there is no final revolution what arises is a synthesis upon synthesis. That's what's hospitable to life.

For a part in Long John Silver or as a Pantomime character.
