we as humans have a lot of unaswered questions

that is what makes us innocent

because we haven’t the answers we are left innocent

we don’t know the unknown

so the mystery of life makes us innocent on that page

I believe we are responsible for what we do know, and unless someone is mentally incapacitated, we know right from wrong. Furthermore, I firmly believe one cornerstone responsibility is to be kind. If that ideal is not actively substantiated it’s difficult to focus on the rest.

“Charm is an interesting attribute. If you have it, you need little else. If you lack it, nothing else you do have matters.” ( I don’t have the author...there may be several versions by a few..)teddybear purple heart

We have absolutely no responsibility to be kind to anyone unless they deserve it. Do you think Xi, Kim Jong-un, or Maduro types deserve kindness when they don't even know the meaning of the word and although they may seem extremely pleasing or delightful to their followers they are not mentally incapacitated simply evil? This filters down all the way to the bottom of the barrel regarding society... some individuals just don't deserve any form of kindness and their charm is deceptive.

That's the joy of life Pedro....finding out as we go along, It's the people who're genuinely interested in how things work who open up the unknown to us...by asking endless questions and being open to all (rational) explanations...We might get it wrong 1000 times, but perserverance pays off in the end...and we learn a little bit more...

Not knowing the true facts/truth can make us innocent in some ways

I'm not sure I'd agree with that entirely Rohaan, Charm on it's own is manipulative, it has to be paired with the integrity, sincerity and have substance....or else it's nothing more than superficial fur coat and no knickers...

I know plenty of people totally devoid of charm . They're very black and white, no messing and straight to the point..and honest....I'd put my life in their hands any day before someone who's all fur coat and no knickers....handshake

Oh abolutely it can Pedro..And from the way I understand it, .It's how people approach that innocence that's important though..And some come at it out of intrigue and wanting to learn/understand more, where as others come at it from the completely opposite perspective and will just make stuff up...or give heed to people who don't really know what's going on but pretend to... The latter can be dangerous.

E.g. way back 1000's, even just 100's of years ago they were "innocent" as to what a volcano was and what caused it, so they put it down to being a God....and either worshipped it or feared it....we now know it's just a volcano, no deities involved...we're no longer innocent as to what it is and what's happening...

The same thing is going on now with this virus...some are geuinely interested in understanding it and others just believe anything that makes sense in their own heads...handshake

rohaan: ok.
I did mean having a natural charm, rather than an “ affected” one— sometimes the impact of an adage or saying is lost if it can otherwise be interpreted...JMO...

( I’m getting a little reluctant to participate in these kinds of threads because it seems to me that what I’m trying to say or quote is not held in the light intended, and it becomes awkward to try and explain, as here, and the “ flow” is misdirected...and I admit that at least at this moment, I’m burning out trying to have easy- going and even whimsical conversations. I had to “ walk on eggshells” for over 30 years in the medical field and I’m kinda done with that noise...please try to understand. I am feeling that I can’t say ANYTHING without it being superfluously critiqued.

Hmmm...not exactly. Being uneducated or unknowing about one topic does not make us innocent of another. However, I dimly see a point here—Adam and Eve did not know there was evil in the garden, so the seduction by the serpent broad-sided ( her). Was she “ innocent” because she did not foresee the evil? Just what ARE our responsibilities in life? A friend of mine was walking to work one early morning and saw that a parking meter had been wrecked and robbed. She called the police, and they treated her like she was the one who did it. In all social service fields ( teaching/ nursing/ counseling) there is “ mandatory reporting”. But, what happens when you turn in someone the administration doesn’t want turned in? Like, one of THEM, or one of their “ pets”? Let me tell you...they’ll get the whole facility to swear on a stack of Bibles and lie, lie, lie to get YOU in hot water. Not everything is “ cool”. So, we have very good employees who turn the other way because doing the right thing is both career and personal suicide. It’s a big, fat, @&#”)+% mess.professor

Rohaan,
YOU say what YOU want to say and mean it the way YOU mean it. Everyone else does.
IF someone wants to nitpick what you say, they could go to hell.

Ain't nobody got time for dat!!

With respect Rohaan, that reads rather childish and "me me me". .

However, that said, since you find it so utterly upsetting and I've no idea what will or what won't upset you I won't respond to you again...
