Going to the local pound or shelter and choosing a dog who needs a home. Breed is inconsequential. You will know which dog you're supposed to have when you see him/her. Don't forget to look at every dog..... especially the older or shyer ones.

Nice , I think the breed matters , a good breed have unique properties and performance , like gsd , Rottweiler , Belgian are really inspiring , we can't compare a pure German shepherd with a street dog sheltered in the shelter house .You will know which dog you're supposed to have when you see him/her. In the movies, most of the trained animals have come from shelters. They are smart, well & easily trained and work for love and affection. Some dogs at the pound are pure breeds that people buy and then give up because the cute puppy grew up or they didn't realize that having a dog would be work. Pure breeds also come with a slew of problems due to inbreeding.
I LOVE dogs, even the ones I'm not typically fond of (most especially German Shepherds) and would never want to see any hurt or neglected.
Its supply and demand. People keep buying designer dogs, dogs keep ending up in shelters. Check out your shelter first, cut down on designer dog purchases, the breeders slow down on the breeding, shelters will hopefully shrink in population.
Just love your dog, whatever you decide to do. Spay or neuter.

you are right sometimes life breeds get health issues and don't perform well , a good cross breed is also good .Pure breeds also come with a slew of problems due to inbreeding.

We have one world famous Pakistan breed called "Pakistani Bully " . Strong big size dog very loyal and brave , decades back it was used for home defence , Leopard and Wolf hunts also
