Howdy everybody: Oregon is going into lockdown after this Monday. I belong to a singles’ club here ( we’re all retired/ semi- retired..55+) and have had to cancel upcoming gatherings/ pub get- together, etc...I’m the “ boss” of some of those. There go The Holidays...just a little frustrated, but also a little relieved, as I was concerned about the pandemic, and of course, I’ll save about 200.00 overall. Just me and Skedaddle now...I’m laid up with bum knees from a bicycle accident on the 4 th. I get a couple of nurse home- visits if I need it. Wassup youze guys?cats meow cats meow cats meow

Except for necessary businesses and services, no public access to restaurants, bars, barber/ beauty shops, department stores, antique malls, gift shops, hardware stores ( limited, as hardware stores can be considered a necessary service, same as grocery stores...and the list goes on. Also, no gatherings at the lakes, parks, beaches ( which will likely be closed to the public)

At least if the virus spread during the whole voting thing, a lockdown now might contain further increases in the number of infections.

Do you know how long it's likely to last?

We have had our two week 'circuit break' where pubs, restaurants and non-essential shops were closed again. I thought it would go on longer to force people to do their Christmas shopping online. dunno

Our infections and deaths are still climbing alarmingly, but I suppose we won't see if the two week break has made a difference for another week, or two.

In Wales, more than one in 50 people have had a confirmed infection. That doesn't include those of us who had it and self-quarantined, or those who have had it asymptomatically.

I've heard of one death in the village where I live, I don't know if there have been other losses, but 1-2 deaths so far would be in line with the statistics for Wales as a whole.

I'm glad you have Skedaddle too keep you company.

Dalecuts: Government control
Not trying to be discourteous, but, “ duh”. This old beatnik has been around long enough. Government control is an unfortunate way of life in America. You can’t get a job, rent an apartment, buy a house, go to college, get a drivers license, put up a fence, add a room or garage, and so many other things. We have become in direct opposition to the freedom values we firmly said we wanted when this country was founded. Exactly what we said we DIDN’T want. Can’t repair the break; can’t unring the bell. Bloody hell....So, it’s just fine, and our right, to protest, but really, can you say it has made them ( government) quit their control? ( NO) The resounding argument to this is that there would be anarchy and chaos otherwise. Perhaps. I’m not complaining in my senior years...if you think about it, this is the way of the world since the time of Moses. It’s not going to change, so the best we can do is try and do the correct thing and stay out of trouble. This is being a realist. professor

We're in the second lock down and it doesn't bother me. There are ways to get what I absolutely need and it'll be temporary and I like not being dragged into town every Saturyday. laugh

Why don't you organise some virtual events with your singles club? I heard people having Zoom parties, playing a murder mystery game or scheduling (laughing) yoga classes.

Get well soon and enjoy time with your cat. wine
