Selenite: Impossible to answer that one...

In my ideal world, and having spent my life with children since I was 20, starting with 2 stepdaughters, then my own 2 children, then 100's of pupils and my own grandchildren, I rather daydream of a different phase in my life where our time table and activities are not worked out around "the needs of the children" any longer ...

But then I haven't met the guy yet and so I have no idea what my priorities will be once I do ...

As for pets, as long as they stay out of the bedroom and at least off one couch in the Livingroom if they're furry, then we're good!!
Oh I’m in trouble now...Skedaddle is everywhere I am—- and for sure, in bedlaugh he had taken to “ tunneling” under my car blanket, which I’ve been tossing on the bed after making. He follows me everywhere, as if he’s afraid he’ll miss something!teddybear

tomcatty: Sometimes a ready-made family is an ideal solution for two people who want to be together but have responsibilities, an ideal solution which fits together like a jigsaw puzzle, bringing the children under the umbrella of two people who love each other and the children
Yes it's all about the puzzle pieces fitting together ...

Which is why I'm not sure what shape puzzle piece will actually fit perfectly for real ...

While reading this thread, something came to my mind...

It would be actually great to find a man who loves cats - not one who indifferently accepts your cat, but really loves cats. Then you can keep cats together and thus always have a topic to talk about, things to do together (play with the cats, take care of them, take millions of their photos and post them on Instagram laugh ) and that can help you build some special bond. smile

In the future, if I decide to search for a partner online, I might write in my profile: "Looking for a cat-lover. Let's raise cats together!". I bet I won't get many offers... laugh

Awwwwwww!!!! How sweet!!! It sounds so very cute Ro smitten
My preference doesn't have to be everybody's preference ... I truly have no judgement about how people live with their animals. My preference isn't a judgement...

I did once look after a kitten that came meowing at my door. She was sick and I looked after her till she passed, she was so tiny I used to allow her on my bed ... even I was shocked ... wow even though cat fur makes my eyes swell and feel weird ... as for dogs I can't ever imagine them in my bedroom as a matter of course ... my 2 dogs are not really "house dogs" they're more running around the fields and digging holes type of dogs ... doesn't really mix well with clean linen laugh

hug

You nearly made my eyes a wee misty— about 12 years ago ( I’m still living at the same address) a tiny black kitten ( or very small cat- I never knew) was mournfully mewing and absolutely would not give up on me, following me up the steps to my duplex, just adamant that I pay her attention, let her in, etc...at the time my landlord wasn’t allowing pets...he since changed this...well, I risked it and took her in, but knew I couldn’t keep her. It was the day after Halloween, and she had been used for someone’s cruel partying ( she was in bad shape). I called a “ rescue” kitten/ cat program, and they came and took her. That kind of re- triggered my love for cats. Blessings to infinity to you, lovieteddybear teddybear

How awful the cruelty to that little kitty blues It recognised a loving soul in you and knew you'd save her hug

The one I rescued couldn't be saved... but it got some love before passing purple heart

Blessings expanded your way to connect us through space teddybear

If the man is Japanese - it's not a problem. I met many Japanese men who own cats.

Western men seem to prefer dogs... confused

tomcatty: Would you take on a ready-made family??????
I've done it and the experience was very rewarding for the most part. I was waiting for the "I don't have to listen to you, you're not my mom" spiel, but that surprisingly never happened.

Nonetheless, that was when I was much younger so in terms of today, I'm not sure.

I'm glad you had this wonderful rewarding experience, I am looking forward to it, I know it will bring some pain with it, but the rewards will be worth it, I am sure.
