This may be before your time, but there was a "hippie artist", Peter Max, that influenced me greatly in my younger years. I studied his artwork intensely, obsessed over his paintings for hours upon hours. I could find new images in his paintings that were missed the other 50 times I stared at it. I incorporated his style into many of my own paintings, and at one time, I painted a black light wall mural of the universe a la Peter Max.
Here is one of his paintings.
