It took how long to develop many complex languages of hundreds of thousands of words each but today Americans can reduce everything to one swear word which has become universally accepted is this progress? 20 years ago I decided to change my life. I quit drinking, stopped lying and stopped using profanity. Today I lie very little, curse very little and no alcohol. It's worked out well for me.

BTW I don't care if other people curse.

My grandma, being an older generation when it was impolite and unacceptable for women to swear, used to say: "Go to parsley" (instead of "Go to hell") when she was angry. laugh

It sounds pretty cute and innocent - I might adopt it. confused laugh

Funnily enough I very rarely swear in Spanish (my native language). Most of my swearing is done in English or French ... dunno
