I find it can be, if only there weren't so much negativity, and veiled racism, there needs to be more____?

Not to me, unfortunately.

I had several attempts at coming back hoping that "it will be better this time". I stay away from here for a while, spend time on other (more positive) places, become positive and optimistic. Then I come back here with many ideas for threads and blogs and ready to joke and have fun and might even give some new person a chance to write to me.

And then, after a few read threads and blogs and some exchanged messages - I see how naive and silly that was. I get entangled into some serious discussions I never wanted to take part in. Then - that's even worse - I constantly get reminded of the past experiences with this site (and some similar sites) that I otherwise NEVER think about. Then I receive some unpleasant messages. And my mood deteriorates until I feel almost depressed.

Since the stress over COVID is already high, I get stressed more easily than usual and lack patience more than in normal circumstances. In that kind of situation, I think that it's important to surround yourself with uplifting and positive things, people and ideas.

I believe that a person can (and maybe even should) never go back. If you have a lot of memories (both good and bad ones) about something - it's better to leave it in the past and simply - forget about it. dunno

I get what you mean, this site seems to set in it's ways, I still class myself as new even though I been here over a year, it definitely isn't meant to be taken as seriously as some take it.. People keep saying "But it's a dating site" The forums are full of mostly nice people, as you say Covid has played with peoples minds a lot and we seem to have forgot to lighten up and have some virtual fun with others in the same predicament.. With Christmas coming I would have expected people to be more cheerful, but we can only hope I guess..sigh

I think that people should choose - either to use CS as a dating site or as a social media. They don't mix well together.

It’s safe to say ( for myself; I can’t speak for anyone else..) that CS is therapeutic— that is, it fills a need, and an interest, more positively than negatively. I used to find myself getting embroiled in conversation and rhetoric that evolved into sniping and downright hostility. I’ve learned to recognize those catalysts and steer clear; AND, restructured my own views and reactions so as not to be a thorn in anyone’s side myself...(one can always just not participate. It’s not a requirement..and, there are plenty of good people here, so if one finds him/ her self wallowing in crap they don’t want to be in, well, do the math...laugh ) Final analysis— it’s a wonderful, educational and entertaining diversion. I like the folks I “ meet” here. And, you’re TOP-SHELF, Dino. hug teddybear cheers

So, this Englishman was visiting Ireland, and settled himself to a pub. As he was drinking his Guinness, he noticed an older Irish fellow making good and fun time and conversation with the ladies. He got a chance to have a private word with him. “how do you get along so well with the girls?” He asked.
“Well”, the Irishman said, “I just cozy up to the bar, and whisper in her ear, ‘tickle me arse with a feather, dear?” And if she asks “what the bloody hell!?” I can say, “particularly nasty weather, here..” and she’ll say, “ Oh, you winsome lad! Let’s have another!” — it works every time, the ladies love it!!” So, the Englishman decides to give it a try. Sidling up to a pretty Colleen, he laughs, nudges her, and says, “ By Jove, Love, it’s rainin’ cats an’ dogs, ain’t it..?”
