As my annual hunt got cancelled this year , I got into a heated debate about the morals of shooting animals , in my case , rabbits or birds, for human consumption.
I don’t consider it a sport , like say for example, fishing or fox hunting .
It’s a tradition that’s been going on for many years during the festive season .
I don’t see it as any different to say , strawberry, or mushroom picking .
What’s your thoughts ?

as you said, there`s no sport in killing for fun
and i dont have a problem slaying ,butchering ...not that i enjoy it but in my opinion, its more honorable than going to a supermarket and buying meet, pretending or not thinking about- somebody had to kill this animal, so i can have food on my table

It’s virtually impossible to buy pheasant, partridge, or other fowl in the city .
I wouldn’t kill a cow or sheep unless they were part of my own livestock. Even then I’d take them to be slaughtered at my local abattoir.

I find it more offensive when people leave food, meat especially.
It basically means , the animal died in vain .

AMEN to you. I don't consume animal products. I am a raw vegan and for my health and health only, not to save animals. I don't even like animals.

Somewhat barbaric because of the amount. All of civilised advance is based upon agricultural workers, it's not actually a good thing to eat more like a hunter gatherer than a hunter-gatherer in a fast-food culture of instant gratification. Meat eating was traditionally confined by the limits of scarcity.

I've had many a game bird, but none of those you've mentioned, I think I would rather shoot and prepare for myself also..

I’ve eaten Chinese & Indian food On many occasions, so I guess I’ve probably eaten an animal we consider a traditional pet myself unwillingly.

I prefer hunting at the supermarket, that plucking feathers, and preparing is too tedious.
My lovely chicken this year was delicious, and ripping it apart with my teeth was quite satisfying.
