Yes..many girls fall in love with their father as he's the first man or Bf in their life.
Same as boys would fall in love with their mother.

Sometimes they will carry this affection all through their adult life...unless dealing with the issue.[/quote

So it be just an affection, nothing more?confused

Dan_777: Oedipus was a Greek God who wanted to kill his father and marry his mother.
I don't think he was a God, nor did he want to kill his father to marry his mother, he was tricked into doing that. It's quite an intriguing story. He needed to get to the truth and in doing so made the sacrifice of his eyesight. He was eventually blessed by the God's for his sacrifice.

James Hollis makes a comparison with the story to 'going beyond' in order to find the truth about oneself....

"Consider the courage of Oedipus who had to know, though he feared that what he had to know might destroy him. His mother-lover-consort Jocasta urges him to close down the investigation. No smoking guns for her. Beyond this point lies danger. Abandon hope all ye who enter.
But he has to know, and while that knowledge is destructive of the ego world he has constructed, his suffering at last brings him to Colonus where the Gods bless him for his journey."

Oedipus at Colonus is a great story...thumbs up

Selenite: Very funny!!!

My grandson said to me when he found out I met someone last year: Wow!! Nan! didn't think you still had it in you, to "pull someone"!! Great illustration of what younger generations think of older ones including their parents ... thinking it doesn't make it real!!
To be quite honest, I thought the same as your grandson, after reading some of your posts, rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing super stuck

rohaan: Perhaps the vernacular has changed, but if my college psychology classes serve me, I’m sure when it is a situation of a daughter having romantic feelings for her father it is called “ the Electra Matrix”. I defer to your knowledge; I might be mistaken.
You qhite right old bean, this romatic feeling for her father, in competition with her mother.
She grows out of this when she identifies with her mother.
tip hat
