I lead the way, or did I lead that seam? I read it, and I will read it. All the examples my brain has right now. But, when writing run into many words that has two pronunciations and even meanings. Have to know the context to understand the meaning. Then we have two, too, to. How about silent letters thrown in for the halibut of it, or ones pronounce contrary like F and PH. Is that ending a er or is it an or..trailer, trailor...Then sometimes it means giver or receiver, grantor/ granter/ grantee. There's another idiot thing...i before e except after c, usually. OK, do I accept it or except it? I feel sorry for anyone learning English. Dad said it was the hardest language that made the least sense.frustrated

This will make you laugh then Orzzz

English is a West Germanic language that originated from Anglo-Frisian dialects brought to Britain in the mid 5th to 7th centuries AD by Anglo-Saxon migrants from what is now northwest Germany, southern Denmark and the Netherlands. The Anglo-Saxons settled in the British Isles from the mid-5th century and came to dominate the bulk of southern Great Britain.laugh

Hi Melodywave

Some pronunciations have nothing to do with the language and more to do with which part of the country you are from. As an English person I have difficulty in understanding how some people from the North talk. It's called dialect.handshake

Say this out loud: air, ear, hair, here, heir, hare. laugh I think there is another missing word.

As you said, the context is important. I have studied some French, but the way it is spoken and the way it is written is completely different.

The fair maiden paid a fair price for her fare to The Fair. There she ate delicious fare. Afterward, she thought she would buy a pear, and sit and pare it, and then sew a button on her pair of slacks. So, while she sat down to sew, she wondered if the weather would be good so she could sow her garden. Just then, a carnival bear wandered out of his cage, but she couldn’t bear it. She decided to go home, and had to drive on a parkway, and then park in her driveway. .......
