1 : the quality or state of being responsible: such as. a : moral, legal, or mental accountability. b : reliability, trustworthiness. 2 : something for which one is responsible : burden has neglected his responsibilities.
I heard this from a college professor...Freedom comes with responsibility.
Can you poor and be free or does it take money to be free. Would you rather be poor and free or rich and immoral but have financial freedom?

One can be poor and free: the homeless person or unemployed does not have to get up early in the morning to go to work or get stressed out working two jobs to make ends meet.

Free from responsibility is for the weak minded . Once you get married or live with someone, you take on responsibility. Then there’s children , mortgage , work etc . Is money freedom? To a certain extent, yes , but as a successful businessman, you still have responsibility for your employees.

Responsibility is power. Sadly few have enough integrity and humility to be worthy of having it..

Freedom is a state of mind, ,regardless of what's in your pocket.

i would disagree that responsibility is power, and say that you don't need power to be honest and humane, to respect other people's rights, choices, and feelings, while being responsible for your own. People can confuse having money with power, and forget what feelings, morals, and responsibility are. So here i will define morality...
Morality (from Latin: moralitas, lit. 'manner, character, proper behavior') is the differentiation of intentions, decisions and actions between those that are distinguished as proper and those that are improper. Morality can be a body of standards or principles derived from a code of conduct from a particular philosophy, religion or culture, or it can derive from a standard that a person believes should be universal. Morality may also be specifically synonymous with "goodness" or "rightness".

That's fair enough Lunabeam, but might I suggest you give it some thought? I think you might find that eventually all those traits lead back to power..or some modicum/version of it...because honesty implies the opportunity to be dishonest and is that opportunity not a moment of power? Ditto humane and respect...
E.G. A child constantly bullies and hurts your child. it's only natural to be angry at that child and wish ill on him. You see the same child being hit and really hurt by his father. What do you? Walk by, feel no responsibility for the child and think he deserves it, or, regardless of your dislike of him, feel responsible for that child's welfare and intervene? There is power inherent in responsibility and whatever decision you make, The power to be kind to someone you don't think deserves it or the power to leave that child to his fate?
Ultimately, when you really examine it...responsibilty is power....and how you exercise it will always have implications for someone(or something) else...

i understand what you are saying is that choice is power, and that is correct, many choices do require responsibility for making a moral decision. but to take someone's choices from them is immoral, and often an abusive power tactic or control, effectively making another person a prisoner.
I would put responsibility with rights and the range of possibility. Society prospers which enables you to do many things you were never able to do before.
And then there's freedom as in two fingers to society. Let me sit amongst the turds on my own. Just leave me alone.
