Just a minute (34)

Mar 2, 2021 5:37 AM CST Just a minute
In a minute a person can fall in love, lose a loved one ,or make a choice that will have consequences that will last a lifetime.

In a minute :

An eye blinks 18 times.
255 babies are born across the World
200 new videos are added to YouTube
213 million emails are sent

The list is endless.

Take a minute of your own life and think about what is most important to you and it's significance to others.

'Just a Minute' is part of my meditation practice and has been for quite some time.

CREATING PEACE IN JUST - A - MINUTE

The simple practice of stopping for breaks of one minute for the mind is used every day, every hour at Brahma Kumaris Centres around the world.
The Just-a-Minute initiative was created to mark the 70th Anniversary of the Brahma Kumaris. In September 2006, 30 million people around the world joined in a one minute ‘global link up’ at the launch at London’s Wembley Arena. It was a theatrical celebration of sound and silence, movement and stillness, and the event was a contribution to the United Nations International Day of Peace.

Give the Mind a Rest - Recalibrate, Recharge ...

There are estimates that we each create between 36,000 and 90,000 thoughts a day. Many of our thoughts are negative or unnecessary - and this is what tires us. In order to reclaim inner peace and well-being we need tools to change both the quantity and the quality of our thoughts. Taking just-a-minute to become aware of what I'm thinking and how I'm feeling gives us the space to recalibrate and recharge by changing the direction of our thinking - from negative or unnecessary to positive and useful. This is what empowers us again, and with practice we can re-build our ‘mental muscles’ and become the master of our mind.

Thanks bodleinghandshake

Some great insight there and my thoughts were drawn to this very subject whilst I am in the throes of being contained due to this virus.

I try to take time out every day to evaluate the important versus the trivia and put my own life into perspective.

It does help to sort the wheat from the chaff so to speak.wave

Its a good habit to get into. Just taking a minute between our different tasks during the day to still the mind is really beneficial. Just to detach your thoughts from what you've been doing and what youre about to do is very calming.

Well I'm not ready to take on the whole world yet, but I suppose sex must do around the world like a Mexican wave as the time zones change.laugh

I found this very helpful today, thank you.

The morning was spent participating in a zoom presentation about a new software program followed loads of phone calls and admin tasks then driving to a meeting with a person I support in my role in disabilities.

During the drive I switched off from the activities of the morning and just appreciated the fact that it was a beautiful sunny day, I breathed and cleared my mind and it put me in a better place to be present and productive for that person.

Like nipping out for a fag but without the cancer. To be honest I've waiting been for society to train us to sleep between floors in the elevator. Then we'll finally be able to relax.
