Lunabeam: Is it appropriate for an older woman to wear a jean mini skirt with a couple little tears that her granddaughter gave her, if she was wearing them when she was her granddaughter's age? Are women expected to change their styles as they age? Can a 58 year old wear a pear of combat boots with a suitable dress. My niece just gave me a pair of combat boots. It seems this younger generation don't see me as too old to be like them, not saying i'm not a lot wiser, a sage even, and a hippie. I'm just observing...nothing else to do.
Sage quote: (no, it’s not mine..)

“When in doubt, don’t...” your concern would indicate that there must be some things about it that you, yourself aren’t comfortable with. Life should be as spontaneously carefree as possible. So, my answer is that IF an older woman THINKS it is appropriate for HER then, go ahead. If she thinks otherwise, then, don’t wear it. Kinda rather simple...but, I guess these questions do come up. Wonderful, lazy Sunday...sleep

I think it's absolutely the choice of the person wearing the clothes. But in saying that, they may not be highlighting their best aspects. If I wore a g-string mankini like Borats, I would expect others to try and keep a straight face in front of me, and no doubt have a good laugh at my expense later... For women, they get judged more, some are bothered by this and many are not. Plenty of very large women choose to wear spandex or yoga pants, and some are totally stylish like the singer Adele was back in the day.

A person dying their hair bright pink and wearing teenagers clothing, The balding person getting a sports car and tattoo in later life, perhaps without realising, are sad caricatures of denial.

For the last year, I've worn nothing but baggy shirts, leggings and wellies. Occasionally jazz it up with slippers And pjs.
And they wonder why I'm single roll eyes
It's acceptable so wear whatever you feel comfortable in yourself doing so.....no one elses business

Saw one of the daughters from next door today and she had thick tights on and a mini skirt on and she is early to mid 50's and still can carry it well as she has the figure to do it also sometimes I see a girl in the near by village who always has a middy skirt on any time of the year and always look fermium and is in her early 50's but I think she has lost the key to her heart. sigh
