I understand the Spanish flue did not originate in Spain but still exist today. So, in my humble opinion, the name Spanish Flue seems so anti Spaniards, makes Spain sound dirty and should be renamed to something like swine-flue1.

Yeah, let's blame pigs for a virus of avaian origin.

You're as thick as mince.
When did I blame pigs. My choice of new name for the Spanish Flue is due in fact that it infected pigs and remains today as the classical H1N1 swine influenza viruses ... causing repository complications.

Kansas flu might be more appropriate but even that is in doubt as to where it originated.

Your original humble opinion was, that by calling it "Spanish Flue" (sic) it made it seem that the virus originated in Spain and in addition to making the place sound "dirty" it was also "anti Spaniards"
That same reasoning can be applied to your call to rename it "swine-flue1".
The" blame" part of my post, comes from your own initial thread.
Please to put mind in gear before engaging stumpy typing fingers.

Thank you for your opinion but there is nothing ambiguous as you suggest in my op.

"H1N1 triggered a human pandemic in the spring of 2009, infecting people in more than 200 countries. In the U.S., it led to an estimated 60 million illnesses, 270,000 hospitalizations and 12,500 deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control. The virus, known scientifically as Influenza A (H1N1), is made up of genetic elements of swine, avian and human influenza viruses. The pigs in Cameroon, the researchers say, were infected by humans."
