If you are looking for a house, would you like to rent it, or do you prefer to buy it?

By renting all the work on the outside (painting, roof repairs etc.) has to be done by your landlord, and some landlords also do or pay for the inside (plumbing, painting etc).
But your rent will rise with the year and you will have to keep paying even if you are living there for 50 years or more.

By buying the house is yours, and you'll have to pay for the mortgage, but the more you pay the less it becomes.
On the other side all the work on the house has to be done by you, so you pay for it. But you can also completely make the house to what you like it to be. Only you have to take care your neighbours won't complain. (If the whole street has white houses and you decide to paint it pink, you might have a problem).
Also you pay more taxes, and once you have payed off your mortgage your taxes will rise skyhigh.
And if you have no relatives to give the house to when you become to old and ill to stay in your own house, it might be even the healthcare claims your house to pay for the bills.
And when you die and you have no relatives anyone can claim it if you don't put it in your last will. And even if you give it to your children the tax will come around and will ask a lot of money from your relatives/inheritants.

So, I rent my house, being alone I don't see profit in buying a house.
In the netherlands it's even so that if I would have bought a house and I loose my job the government says: You have money, so you don't get an unemployedment benefit, or you first have to sell your house.
Only people who have less than 6500 euro's get an unemployedment benefit.

According to the ground reality in my Country , my vote will go for Buying .. professor

As per economical aspects , like tax benefits , if you are not a govt. Employee , then there won't be much benefit for you there for a rental home.. And even for govt. Employees , after retirement , if you compare with all the taxes and tax benefits , your own home will come much cheaper.. It would be much better to have your own home and complete all loan installments within your working period rather than having the headache of paying increasing rent even after retirement whole lifelong..

Then comes the maintenance factor.. Well.. No matter what clauses you have included on your agreement , if your landlord will be ready to maintain them always , then consider yourself as very very Lucky..
In most cases there is no guarantee that your landlord will bear all maintenance duty.. And if they don't , you won't have much options except only going to Court..
And if you do that , then be sure you have invited the hell in your life...
Set aside the cost of taking legal help , most likely the case verdict won't come within your lifetime ... doh

And above all.. All the restrictions , insecurity because of living in a rental home often cause mental and social distress.. The relationship between a landlord and tenant often transformed into bitterness for silliest reasons..

So considering all these consequences , if you can afford , then always go for buying your own home rather than paying rent lifelong , would be better here in my country... thumbs up

I'm about to sell my house and buy another. I'm 58 years old so still young enough to build up equity for my relatives when I die.

I've been in my neighborhood for a long time, now, the city has reached within a few miles of me. A golf coarse is going in 2 miles up the road, with all the million+ dollar homes going in... homes with curved roofs are very popular in my neighborhood now... some of my neighbors to the north up the hill have garages bigger then my house, a lot bigger... laugh ... I've been in my neighborhood almost 40 years, I don't rent, I own my home, home prices in Colorado are going up fast, so, I think it's better to buy instead of renting, unless you are only going to be some place for a short time, but for long term, I would buy, my house goes up in value every year, especially with these kind of homes going in... this one in the picture is a small one! ... laugh ... dunno

I do like some of the modern homes they build now, with the curves, plus being passive solar...

Far our. Last time i was in Parker Co. the homes near my bros ranch on delbert road similar to the one shown in your photo started around $600k He called them cracker jack homes i guess because the one attached garage he had was two and a half cars wide and three cars deep and there were barns for the horses and other out buildings for the trucks and quarter horse trailers. I don’t care how many JDs he had I wouldn't want to take care of that much property. thumbs down

It's just a phrase.

Some people become creative so they don't pay their fair share of taxes.

The plan is to buy any place built before the second world war. Anywhere that can fend off spiritual death. I don't want to live one of those toy homes, the toy homes with toy men with toy hearts where the entire neighbourhood look like Legoland with a little Noddy car coming round the car. The dead land, the cactus land, the barren deserts of IKEA where science and progress destroy all that was great and good in the world.

And we will probably see more of that investment overseas thanks to whomever is pulling comrade biden’s strings.

Now with Bitcoin and other non-traceable ways to hide money, it will be easier for them not to pay taxes.

On the IRS return it ask if you have investment into such account.
Get real IRS, these people (companies) will never check YES.

I would love to buy a house and have been keeping a close eye on the housing market here in hopes that I can find one in my affordability range. The prices of houses here have gone through the roof in the past year or so and it's not looking too promising right now. Currently, I'm renting in an apartment building and as far as I'm concerned, it sucks big time. Too many restrictions, rent money out the window month after month for 29 years....yikes! Can't barbecue, no garden, constant notices about what you can't do and nothing telling you what you can do because the list would be very short, lol. I love yard work, gardening, painting and =decorating and would be absolutely ecstatic if I could own my own house. No equity to build by renting and owning a house is a good investment that can be passed on to my son. I've owned a condo townhouse before and the maintenance fees got ridiculously high as there's no cap on how much it can be increased so I sold it.
