All ready three deaths been reported due to this infection and one patient has lost her eye..

If anyone here has any more information about cases of "Black Fungus" infection among Covid 19 patients , Please share here if you like...

Thank you all..

I'm not sure 'rapidly spreading' is an accurate phrase to use. There have been more cases than usual, but it's still a very small number of people who have been affected.

Yes.. As a number of infection it's not a very high infection rate..
But my concern is not about the number count here..

It's not about simple "Black Fungus" infection .. But the co-relation between "Black Fungus" and Corona infection..
Because they are saying in the news that , those who were previously diagnosed with Corona , are now getting infected by "Black Fungus"...
That means they are indirectly saying that this two infections are probably co-related...

That's why I want to know if any where else outside of India , has any such cases where Corona infected people are also getting infected with "Black Fungus" later ?
Though it is not contagious as Corona , but comparing to the impact it made on health , it seems even more dangerous than Corona... dunno

I don't know if you read the link I posted for the BBC article, but from that and the British Medical Journal article below a few pieces of information can be gleaned, despite the technical reporting.

The incidence of the black fungus infection is 80 times higher in India than in developed countries. The fungus is found in soil, plants, manure, and decaying fruits and vegetables.

The infection seems to be linked with high blood sugar levels, so those who are diabetic, or received high doses of steroids as a treatentment for covid are at a higher risk of mucormycosis (black fungus) infection.

I think the BMJ article also states that it has occurred in one patient who only had mild covid symptoms and recovered at home with no sterid treatment. There was something else different about her bloood sugar level that I didn't understand. I think it also suggests that the immune response as a result of covid may affect the immune response to the fungus.

It's still very rare, but it's significant with respect to treating covid with an optimal dose of steroids, monitoring blood sugar levels and the treatment of mucormycosis in diabetic patients in particular.

I imagine hand washing and sanitising, and particular care around the fungal sources (soil, plants, manure, and decaying fruits and vegetables) will help.

I hope that's helpful, despite my medical ignorance.

Yes, it's a helpful explanation. It's reassuring to have the facts.

And here is another update ...

While Black Fungus is all ready in rise , a few cases been reported as infection from 'White Fungus' also...
Though it's very less number comparing to Black Fungus till now , but it's actually more fatal than Black Fungus , as it can affect several major organs in the human body , more than Black Fungus can do...
The symptoms of 'White Fungus' infection is same like Covid 19 mostly...

Still the data and statistics showing the number of White Fungus infection is not very high and that is the only relief we have right now...
