Listened to NPR this am. Talk was on ring doorbells and how cops can/cant/should/shouldnt have access to the videos. Interesting. Seem ring owns the videos, not the homeowner. And they get stored in the cloud. So if cops demand them, up to the company to decide.
In past years, take overs were done by dictators. I see much of the same happening more and more in the US.
China turned kids into spies of parents. Neighbors too. Now that is how this country is going. Teachers grill students. Neighbors spy on neighbors.
A guy with a mustache burned books and made some wear a star. Now we use cancel culture.
Orwell wrote about cameras. Now people carry tracking devices and tape everyone else while store and street light cameras record all. Stop at a stop signal and get your car and plate preserved for the future. The decent store tells you of recording and even puts up a screen so you can see yourself BEING recorded.
The see something/ say something mantra has become a spy networks. No one minds their own biz anymore. Just in case...you do something against the law. Or that they dont like. How dare someone be in an alley after midnight wearing a black hoodie. frustrated Guess what..black saves on laundry.
Go under the speed limit and cops get called. Be a lackadaisical driver, hit that rumble street, get the heck scared out of you and swerve a bit and that car behind will report you swerving all over the road.
Park in a car and snooze while waiting for that shopper who takes forever and there is the cop. For sure, dont knock on the window and check yourself. You might have to be too concerned.
Dog in a kennel..call the cops. So they can take the time to check that the dog has a house, water, food and is happy rather than tearing up the sofa. Could have walked closer yourself to see. But, hey..that takes too much effort.
Yet media reminds people to check on elders when hot or cold. Thats cause no one bothers. Big Brother is alive and well and getting his hooks in better and better. Of course..it is for your own good.mumbling

This is pretty much the same thing as when Apple refused to unlock a cell phone that was involved in a murder.

I wonder how long it will be before this technology is deployed in the USA against whoever's political enemies, if it hasn't been already. Recall the close cooperation between the Chi-Coms, Zuckerberg, Gates, and Fauci, et al.

Dahua Provides "Uyghur Warnings" To China Police

This proves Dahua lied when Dahua claimed it "does not sell products that feature ethnicity-focused recognition function" after it was revealed that Dahua had Uyghur tracking in its code.

IPVM collaborated with the LA Times on this report, see: LA Times Race detection and ‘real-time Uighur warnings’ — inside Dahua’s facial recognition technology.

Scary. But that's where we are headed, if not, already there.

I don't need you unless it's to spy on you. To be safe than sorry. Technology makes it so easy to not need you at all. And it's more than shallow enough to destroy you, me and the context of just about anything, all of our cultures and our laws bow down to what is admittedly a very efficient time-saving device.

Control in other words? Spy on all to protect the elite? And who chooses who sits in the ivory tower?dunno
Perhaps the poor working slob who keeps their nose to the grindstone, makes and then buys the products they produce, there fore making a few wealthy? History is filled with the legends of the outcome of a few "protecting" the masses. Who has that poem about when they came for the Jews?
