Whether it be a cat , dog , snake , fish , or a rodent of some form , why do people keep these beasts in their homes ?
So they serve a purpose in our lives , or are they just another unnecessary expense ?

I have failed to find love amongst my own species and have fallen back on the less judgemental world of animals.

And I wonder if it has something to do with leisure. Is not the life of leisure also the life of a pet? The lady of leisure is most surely a cat or one of those dogs you see sticking out of a handbag. The latter being the peak of pet symbolic of how a civilisation transforms all life into a kept creature.

Are far as I’m concerned, people you have pets at a later age , is a way of saying “ I tried to find love but I flailed miserably “ .

If you’re a pet owner yourself, volunteer at animal shelters, or look after your neighbour’s animals when they’re away, pets can really help boost our mental and physical health, make us feel happy, and, unlike a human, they will listen to our problems without talking back.grin

The problem with pets is they can be an unnecessary burden & restrict your freedom , especially during the holiday period .
As far as listening to problems is concerned.. I can assure you , you can spill your heart out while I’m watching football & you won’t hear a word out of me .

True pet owners never class their pets as a burden. They are an extension of their family. Ours go on holiday with us.grin

I had a cousin, who kept a snake.
One day he let the snake loose without my knowledge and the next thing I knew , the snake was crawling towards my groin area .
I can only assume, it was looking for it’s soulmate dunno laugh
