Chasing the clock, chasing the calendar. (14)

When you reach the age for a buckets list..its too late. I have reached the age of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Too bad it is daylight where the tunnel ends at an endless cliff.
I run a perpetual to do list. Take off on top and add on bottom. Winter brings things down and limits what can be done if it occurs outside. March is hit the ground running because by June..summer is over!!frustrated If half that list is not done, it wont all get done.
I like global warming in winter. Summer tho..not so much. The weather predict is 90s for weeks. So what do I get to do? Inside work.very mad doh Winter is racing at me. Time is racing at me. And I get to cull out my closet. Work on a quilt.
The other thing that gets me is doing it alone. What happened to those kids happy to work for a few bucks? Or that good old handy man who could help out. Those with skills are booked solid. Those that aren't, dont because they are NOT handy.
Guess I will just whine and crab and plod on. Word to the young..dont wait! Do it now because the only thing in the future is to die independently dead.sad flower

I had a health scare few years ago and went into panic mode wrote down all the things I said I must do one day and done them have completed about 80% of the list. Thankfully health is ok now but I made some great memories and done stuff I probably wouldn’t have done without that scare cheering

I met an older motorcyclist who could no longer handle his Goldwing so he quit riding.
I knew then what I was going to say to him but I waited to blabber some motorcycles I enjoyed over the years and then I told him my plan when I get too weak to ride the my blue bike.
I told him I would simply get a smaller motorcycle and maybe a vintage one like a 1972 CB 350 that I totally enjoyed in my younger days. Light fast easy to handle and decent gas mileage, cruise anywhere with 2 people on it. teddybear

I know a few guys that are threatening to hang up the helmet and boots, they are also talking smaller bikes to combat their old age/weakness..
I ride with a guy in his sixties and he's still fast, ride smarter is his motto Fade..

I know exactly what you mean about kids doing small jobs. My garden needs work and I just cannot get a kid or retired person to do it. I can get a professional alright but they charge too much and would probably turn down my garden as being too small a job to be worth their time.
When I was younger kids were always calling to houses offering to do garden or yard work....maybe they get their money too easily nowdays!

I've never had a 'bucket' list.
I do, however, have a 'f**k it' list.

OP I no longer chase the clock or the calendar.

I have accepted my destiny.

I realize at my age it is wishful thinking to find a man my age with all the working parts.
Men my age or older have retired and looking for companion to sit on the porch and tell stories.

For the Men reading this post, don't give up on life, be active, vibrant and allow someone to put that spark back in your eyes. banana

Agreed..I also have a F*** It list. I have come to the realization that no one cares about a lot of the stuff I value, collect, build or do. Re-sales are filled with grandpa painting, moms embroidery, Aunts knit afghan and those precious knick knacks that cost tons at one time.
What man creates, another after tears down. I plod along because that is what farmers do. It is my responsibility. But the seasons race by, following the years and then decades until there are no more.
My bikes sit in the garage. Since one is a trike and one is a hard tail, no problem to ride them. I just dont feel like the effort anymore. One main issue is breaking anything at old age. The second is fools in cages. I had an idiot play chicken with me years ago with his truck. Now a thousand times worse. My late tenant hit a deer and almost died. I dont even care to drive a car anymore. Too much thinking and attention.
I feel bad for the young who sit inside, never venture into nature, never do a hobby, never learn new stuff. At the same time I wonder if maybe they aren't correct and I am the one wasting time.dunno
