Youcannow: At least joe Biden has realised that the mess the republicans have made of this military saga is pointless & his withdrawing will save America from further embarrassment.

Sunnyside200: 20 years USA spend 3.2 trillion dollars on Afghanistan army .

If cs all members have just 100 million we all very rich people .
That's a lot of dollars. Just to put it into perspective, if you were to count a trillion dollars and mark each one taking one dollar per second, it would take you just over 31,688 years to count them....wow

Exactly like Cyprus .
Keep supporting the Turkish Muslims & see where that will get you .
Cyprus and Greece are the only Christian defence between Europe & the Middle East .
You remember that before Europe gets totally overrun with Islam .

Name_Taken_Too: I guess you could say it's been a lot more than 20 years of failing
I know the US has been involved in a lot of wars and "interventions" all around the world, I believe wrt wars it's somewhere in the region of 100 (could be wrong though) . But 2 billion dead? I'm not sure I'd believe that to be honest..

The neoconservatives (well after Reagan) are to blame for our very limited success in Iraq and the tar pit of
Afghanistan.

Pilger always has something decent to say..

John Pilger: The Great Game of Smashing Nations

"More than a generation ago, Afghanistan won its freedom, which the U.S., Britain and their “allies” destroyed."

blathin: This withdrawal of Bidens is just one more botch up by the USA that's going to cause even more misery.

"It's nobody's fault but the Biden regime"? If you don't understand waht you're country's been doing in other countries then maybe you should take the time to learn....it's a horrendous legacy..

Biden, Trump, Bush, Obama, ti doesn't matter who's in power...They all played a part in this and are all to blame. As well as you and 350 million other Americans who make up the people of the USA. Your government orchestrated it and you the people allowed it to happen...

Your jaw dropping gullibility, willingness to believe the crap your fed, not being able to listen to both sides and make your own mind up so you need someone else to tell you what to think..for being utterly stupid in not realising you are also paying the price for all these wars...and while your country is being destroyed from the inside you are all screaming over each other like lunatics that need straight jackets...The USA has turned into a lunatic asylum and the rest of the world is looking on aghast as you try to destroy everyone else's country as well....

Maybe your time would be better spend educating yourself on what goes on around the world and the US's role in it, instead of wasting your time by calling me childish names and other such infantile carry on....
Americans can no more control their government than you can yours . For the first time they had a president who started no new wars in spite of pressure to do so after an attack from Iran , and the system worked very hard to be rid of him .

My village did stay put , for a year in fact , but after a year of torture by these barbaric Muslims & by torture , I mean , raping women & killing men of fighting age .
We were forced to leave by the American/ British UN forces , but you still support the Turks . ( and you wonder why Islam will one day rule the world )

He might not have started any new wars but he was a danger to America's democratic system, maybe the first president who was.

I’m not saying you personally, but the American & British government.
Turkey is not a country but an experiment for the allies, mainly to do its dirty jobs in the Middle East & beyond.
But what you , or Trump don’t realise , is that the Erdogan has secret plans to rejuvenate the past glories of the Ottoman Empire , even claiming that holy Christian lands belong to them & with his strong Islamic views , he will succeed unless the west wake up .

A Turk will flatter you on one hand & stab you in the back with another.
A recent example was when Turkey agreed to purchase American mig fighter jets from the US, then done a deal to purchase Russian S400 anti aircraft defence systems , which can intercept the migs.
This angered the US & the deal didn’t go through.
Basically what I’m saying is , don’t trust the Turks .

Name_Taken_Too: Afghanistan, as the Americans leave with their tails between their legs, like the Russians before them, what was it really all about?
I guess there's always a buck to be made.$$$$ sigh

"The notorious US mercenary firm Blackwater has prompted public outrage after reports said its head, Erik Prince, is charging $6,500 per person to fly people out of Afghanistan as the evacuation deadline looms amid the Taliban control."

Actually, the Irish people do have control over the government. They can just walk into a TD's office in town and say whatever it is they want, need etc..Their email addresses and phone numbers are listed so anyone can call them. If something needs doing in a village then we can go to our local councillors and if nought is done we can escalate it to the local TD.

And if we're still not happy we can go on the radio and scream blue murder about it. There's a well known phrase in ireland. If you need a law changed , give Jo Duffy a call on liveline...he'll sort it.

From the teens to the elderly, if things are not going the way they should we all know all we have to do is call some radio programme and others will hear it and join in. If it's bad then it can be changed...

Unlike most other countries the Irish people have amazing amount of control... and a very very loud voice too..that the TDs will ignore at their peril...

Also, the voting system in Ireland is the total opposite of the USA. In ireland we vote in the TD's and then the TD's vote in their leaders...

In the USA the people only get to vote for the leader..and then he picks his team (TD equivalent)...

if someone is voted in as TD and they're not doing their job..they get holy hell for it...in person and in the next vote..so they work their asses off..

It's the wrong way around in the USA and that's at the root of half the problems they're having overt here...the people have no voice and have no way to get their voices heard either...

Erdogan? Plans?

No he doesn't. He's running with the hare and chasing with the fox..He's trying to keep both US and Putin happy until he works out who it's best to side with..he' constantly wavering from one side to the other...and it's pissing the US off no end....
He also knows if he picks the wrong side , turkey could end up like Syria..a pile of rubble...

I bet he'll go with Putin....eventually...well if he's smart he will...the US is not where the smart money is anymore...

Unless he gets Turkey into the EU...which is where he really wants to be...nice and safe tucked up with the rest of europe....the safe zone...

Smart may be too strong a word .. maybe cunning would better describe him .

As far as European Union entry is concerned. I think even the optimistic of turk would doubt that would happen.. Greece have the Vito & would never let that happen.
