bodleing2: I'm in the Scottish Highlands right now where, if it's not raining, it soon will be.
Just wondering— even though the U.S. is up- to- the- minute technologically, we have “ pockets” where getting cell and internet service is very weak or non-existent. Indeed, there is a long-standing joke here in Coos Bay about ‘people living out in the country drive miles to town— to make a phone call..laugh Do you have this occurring in UK?

Yes very much so. Generally in the more remote and less populated areas the signal is either non-existant or intermitant at best.
Where I am at the moment in the Highlands, no phone signal in the house or by the loch, but good signal in the garden.

yesterday it was sunny and hot today cloudy and cold. You never can rely on the dutch weather.

Once they said we would have a lovely easter weekend, so I packed my tent, clothes, food and drink in my kajak and went for a trip. Well, the first night it started raining and it kept raining for the rest of the weekend, it rained to hard to get out of my tent.

One would think that. However, a relative of mine has traveled to The Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall, Solway Firth, and that coastal area where the rock formations look like citadel castles..(I forgot the exact name, but they are really something to see..) and she tells me that all this is acutely true: cell service for a bit, such as Carlisle and surrounding, then no technical service for distances, and so sporadic it sounds like sizzling bacon, then nothing, then weird spurts of communication, then sizzling/nothing, etc…WOW— how frustrating that MUST be in a country believed to be very modern. But it seems so. Tourists are sometimes met with verbiage such as “internet and mobile telephone services may be compromised or non-existent. Please prepare for these eventualities”.
