Bobby died about 15 years ago, so a lot of the older chessplayers are still alive and remember everything. Was Bobby insane? I doubt it, but he was paranoid for sure. And the role of the USA-Gouvernment wasn't also without any shame. After winning his worldtitle in chess, Bobby started a chessgame against several leaders of different countries, like Israël and America, after his arrest also against Japan. But even before he became WC he had started a war against Russia, and when he won the worldtitle he became a hero, but the USA and the FIDE (The chessfederation) changed him from a hero to a fool. Of course, Bobby also had a big role in this, most of things happened after his victory were caused by his own behaviour, but not all.

I see that as being different from Israeli policies which oppress, threaten and kill Palestinians.
Listen to half a dozen accounts of people's Holocaust experiences and Zionism, longing for a homeland, is perfectly understandable.
The issue is how that is being achieved, if you can call it an achievement in it's current state. It's not an evil Zionist regime, it's inhumane, ungodly behaviour that is out of place with the concept of a safe homeland that everyone has the right to.

Well the way I see it is all the above as you said..
I have listened to accounts from Holocaust survivors and have visited places in Warsaw Budapest and Germany to see myself, terrible experiences for sure, and have heard people try and justify the treatment of the Palestinians by saying "what about the Holocaust?"
Longing for a safe homeland while bulldozing homes and stealing land to build illegal settlements is a bit hypocritical to say the least.. The Nakba was back in the 40's and it still goes on today.
Yes everyone has a right, but it seems the Palestinians rights no longer matter..
