jac_the_gripper: I didn't see my family for the first four months of the pandemic, but that was over a year ago.
I guess you have a lot of outdoor seating areas in coffee bars/restaurants. That's beginning to catch on here, but our streets aren't always appropriate for that, especially here in Wales. Pubs often have beer gardens and they have been open for meals/drinks on and off throughout the pandemic.
My point about cinemas and pubs is that if people go out in the winter, they tend to go in. It rains a lot here, so people are going to be indoors somewhere a lot of the time.
How do Spanish dogs only go to the toilet once a day?
Great you are seeing your family now. I haven't seen my children and grandchildren since autumn 2019... was too complicated and expensive with all the PCR testing and quarantining on top of the tickets and trip expenses ... I miss them so much it aches ... and now I'm focussing on my Mum for the moment so next trip will be to be with her for a while ...
Of course the weather is so often linked with "how people live" and their activities ...
From what I observed, dogs tend to go to the toilet after they eat so if they get fed once a day they tend to go only once a day ... However, during the lockdown many people were walking their dogs so much they had sore paws In fact the same dog was being walked by several people so they had an excuse to get out of the house. Unheard of, but when dogs were seeing someone with a leash in their hand instead of jumping for joy their were running for cover
Selenite: I think everyone needs to do what they feel comfortable with. I'm sorry what I wrote sounded like someone wearing a mask does so out of fear. Everyone has their reasons and needs not justify themselves. I chose to only wear one when I have to ie in shops/hospitals (when I translate for people)/ public offices etc.
I wear a mask and socially distance everywhere where there are people apart from in my daughter's home with family.
I'm maybe more cautious than many, but I have an underlying health condition for which I take medication that suppresses my immune system (it's horrible).
I'm more worried about unwittingly passing on the virus than having it again myself, so there is an element of fear that I might harm someone else if I'm careless.

I've never had a dog that could go without peeing all day, so I was thinking those living in apartments with dogs must have to go out several times. I was thinking it would be a good excuse, but I see it's been taken to a whole new level.

I don't whatever activity I'm doing but then I live in a small village where there have been no cases for weeks and weeks. The whole of the South of Spain is on level 0 ... I don't have to take anyone else into consideration here so I feel pretty free when it comes to reasons for wearing one.
The passing it on to someone else was why I didn't visit my parents because I never knew for sure who I'd be in contact with at the airport ... but as you say not worried about myself ...

A whole new level yeah!!! But sometimes it came in handy. Like the couple I know who used to "borrow" their neighbour's dog because they didn't have one and when the day came after the lockdown where the neighbours were moving and couldn't take their dog, the couple just adopted him since they already had been walking him for weeks
Selenite: "tolarate" sounds a bit like hugging a carboard box
.. I'm sure I've felt that way before, but I've always been a believer in personal space.. I've no problem hugging my girl, or wife tho.. Call me weird..

I bet they're pleased! Do they know about one another?
When I said I hugged visitors and people who came to the funeral, most of them were cousins and family ... I don't go round hugging strangers so you're safe

I try to end it with one, before I get the other, smarty...
Good to know I'm safe, but if you were in the States, I might worry a little.. .. I wouldn't want to be the victim of a serial hugger...
