Eat your heart out tomcatty, it's not so grim up north, in fact Manchester is 'the' place to be....laugh

"In fact, Manchester is so cool that it recently scored third place in Time Out’s well respected list of the World’s Best Cities. Yes, there’s a rather generic city centre with the hulking presence of the Arndale Centre, fringed with high street shops - but duck beyond it and you’ll find impossibly chic townhouse hotels, sophisticated sky bars, a charming waterfront quarter and dinners beyond your wildest dreams."

I can understand your pride, bod, but even so, do you have to shout about it? Does it nor occur to you that this sort of publicity could well encourage the undesireables from down south to come north and visit. We need to perpetuate the myth of it being "grim" up here, it keeps the riff raff away.

Too late, the word's out on Time Out...laugh

Anyway, as you know, we're a friendly bunch up here, we'll welcome them with open arms, take their money and send them on their way.

People think it always rains in Manchester. Not true, though I admit it’s the only town in the country with a lifeboat drill on the bus routes.” – Les Dawson

Really bodleing???? I stopped reading the article when I saw the number 1 city
as san francisco. I thin s.f. Is the armpit of the world, full of woke, devil worshippers and anti America Americans. North of there in Sonoma and Napa valleys is heaven full of fine wines.

I enjoyed the time I spent in San Fran, I was only there for eight days though, four days before my trip down to Baja, then four days when I got back. It felt more European than other US cities I've visited in some ways, good memories really.

I don’t doubt you have those good memories bodleing. My job at EPA took me out there often and I also have good memories of S.F. from back then. Things have changed not for the better there today imho.

But really it's canal street. Gays are the reason we win third place behind San Francisco and the pot smoking, whore ridden waterways of Amsterdam.
