rohaan: Im wondering if you’ve ever heard of Temple Grandin. She’s a woman with severe personality disorder, not sure w/o researching just which ones, but autism and “personality defective disorder” comes to mind. She earned PHD’s, and taught at two universities. Anyway, she is an animal rights advocate, particularly beef and sheep. Interesting bio….just thought this might interest you—-

—- it’s just a rose, Jac…
Temple Grandin is on the Austic Spectrum which is in no way a personality disorder.

Not that I'm attending to detail like someone who's neurodiverse, or anything. giggle

Hold yer britches and tighten your knickers, cowgirl—One can most certainly have autism and a personality disorder. I’m in this for Forty Years now. It can and does happen. Not always. Now, GENTLY and SLOWLY peel that bandaid off— ( or are you the type who likes to just rip it quick—you know—intense pain, but only for a moment?)

I didn't say it was impossible to be on the Autistic Spectrum and be diagnosed with a personality disorder, as there are overlapping traits and diagnoses are based upon clincal judgement.

I said Temple Grandin is on the Autistic Spectrum which is in no way a personality disorder. There are traits which are specific to Autism which she has famously utilised in her animal welfare work, namely sensory overload.

The issue I have is that women are more likely to be diagnosed as personality disordered and men more likely to be viewed as being on the autistic spectrum because women are dismissed as being hysterical thanks to Freud's misogyny. Blaming everything on our emotions and hormones is pervasive in the medical field and makes it difficult to get relief for physical and psychological issues.

I have never heard of personality defective disorder.

Oh my bad…”Personality Affective Disorder”.
(My mind was thinking one thing and my stylus writing another—) is there a term for that, Jac? Wasn’t my strong point in college— I’m a Biology major—- ask me about Taxonomy, Durable and Solid Chordata, etc…laugh

I think Temple Grandin is a little too upbeat and confident for Affective Personality Disorder. laugh

Men seem pretty autistic to me. I mean there will be an historic reason why men are transparent and one-dimensional, and a reason why women are a lot less aspie bull being relatively shady and multifaceted.

I would guess that it's the difference between the hunter and the gatherer. The hunter was transfixed by the same thing all day every day, the gatherer not so much. The gatherer did many things more things in a day and the gathering itself not so intensely focused as hunting an animal for hours on end.

Which would certainly chime with how screen time creates autism. It's intensely focusing on the same thing all day.
