I think something will snap in our aging yet revolutionary society. Technologically revolutionary. I see a massive emotional attachment to the golden age that existed from the end of world war 2 to 2008. Which is not the case in Singapore because their old people grew up in a hut. They're modern not post modern. The word natural doesn't necessarily mean good, they know what it is.

The west is in decline but from a place of unparalleled privilege and success. It's the end of an era, a golden era, but not the end categorically.
And the future is unnerving because the only one with the sense to deal with it is AI. It'll have to be beyond a fast-learner and beyond human in its ability to take in the breadth of events.

Do you mean a geomagnetic reversal? Impossible to say as they are a random process. Nonetheless, geographic north and geographic south will remain unchanged, so it follows for geographical west: you are going to find sunsets in the usual direction, don't worry :)

November 22, 2021, Stockholm — The United States has joined an annual list of "backsliding" democracies for the first time, the International IDEA think-tank said on Monday, pointing to a "visible deterioration" that it said began in 2019.
"A historic turning point came in 2020-21 when former president Donald Trump questioned the legitimacy of the 2020 election results in the United States," the report said
In addition, Hudson pointed to a "decline in the quality of freedom of association and assembly during the summer of protests in 2020" following the police killing of George Floyd.
"The visible deterioration of democracy in the United States, as seen in the increasing tendency to contest credible election results, the efforts to suppress participation (in elections), and the runaway polarization... is one of the most concerning developments," said International IDEA secretary-general Kevin Casas-Zamora.
The blame for our now backsliding democracy can be laid squarely at the feet of ex-president Donald J. Trump. The challenge now is for the "runaway polarization" he promoted to be healed so the nation can return to normal.
