What do you do when you’ve got a letter so long and boring, that it induces toothache before you’ve grinded to the third of it?

Do you answer something or other, equally dull, just to appear being polite? Or do you remember that your life is made of time and decide not to spend a part of it in so ungainly manner?

A penny for your thought :)

I would always give the respect of reading a letter someone took an age to compose .

If it is a friend or someone I know I will tell them, "Woa way to long". I know I write long post and imagine most do not read them laugh If it is not someone you know. Don't give it another thought. I wouldn't and I wouldn't answer to be polite. dunno Don't feel guilty. You owe no one an answer to anything or an explanation unless it is something you want to give. wave

is the "letter" legit? some one you've chatted with? if you reply, do it openly and lay out some of your own thought on it.

some one new?
doesn't hurt to read. tell them your thoughts on it openly if you reply.

many may not bother with a reply and that's not so bad over all either.

which ever your decide, may not be all bad either way.

about that life is time thing? this, "our environment here", in all manner, could qualify as "ungainly".

We listen to people who are boring and let it go on for the sake of not hurting feelings. A letter is a bit different, and one can curb those with a polite response of, “Hey, got your note. Thanks for catching up. Been slammed..busier than a trollop. Call you for coffee some day”.

That should give them the picture.

That's my sentiment too. But I keep thinking about it nonetheless. Perhaps, I should compose something short and take as an exercise in written English :)

No. Don't know who Ayham70 is, but sure it's not the only boring personage here.

I's the first letter from someone from another continent. "Legit"? Don't know, some scammers are getting more skillful nowadays, but this profile feels genuine. And boring too.

At to "our environment here": it's as gainly or as ungainly as we all are. I did learn quite a lot here during all those years and not only in lingual terms. It's not the place, it's the participants :)

Woah, Rohaan! Ok with you, if I steal it? Not word for word, though, as I googed "trollop" and decided to find some other definition of business. Would you be fine with "bee"?

Once I had an acquaintance who could talk for hours without saying anything. I loathed to be in her proximity. But if you give it another thought: that's a very valuable social skill, when used sparsely.
