Yep Boris is good very good with some things but he has certainly misread this situation altogether. For him to get through this with a modicum of self worth he should fall on his sword before he is pushed,
Whatever parties were held and whomever attended knew full well it was against the rules, no matter how it is churned out.
It’s unacceptable for those who lead countries to set the bar only to break it themselves. It’s a mockery to all those residing in the U.K.
I don’t doubt for one minute mistakes were made, but in all fairness, how many can you make before your role is made untenable by your actions?
People have memories, but will this whole escapade damage the voters support up North?
It’s not about what the gov has done through this pandemic or brexit is it? It’s about the people of the country who deserve leadership that is not mired by controversy.
The old days are not over, just formatted in a different way, but the attitude is still deeply entrenched….
Miss_Cellaneous: I haven't read through the whole thread but I for one think that Boris should bow out now. He clearly "flouted" the covid rules that "His" Government Implemented. Many 1000's of Uk people were "fined" for floughting the rules. Yes! the Met are now getting involved but let's not forget that Downing Street have Police Officers outside Downing Street 24/7 and so why where these people allowed into Downing Street? It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the outcome would be on Boris's side. There is so much corruption still going on within Governments and the Police but it's the ordinary people that are left to suffer in the end I think it's a case of the Met investigating the Government but then having to investigate their own Police Officers. No matter what the outcome, you can't turn back the clock, all the British folks, being fined, suffering lockdowns, not being able to be with their loved ones in many circumstances.
I watched the Drama "True" story called "Anne" regarding the Hillsborough Disaster. It was heart rendering. It's well worth a watch, she fought her whole life to say it was an unlawful killing. It took over 25yrs of her fighting for justice even though she was battling from cancer. She won but even though the Police lied but admitted it 25 years later, nothing was done about it. 96 people lost their lives that day due to a Police error, yet they lied and changed peoples statements but that was way back in 1989. The Copper who I will call him, admitted his lies which he stated way back in 1989 Would "You" trust our Government or our Police Force now? I can't explain it all but it's worth watching The Police are just as corrupt as the Government
Well what you gonna do. Few people attracted to a job in security - cop, soldier or bouncer - unless they're a bully.
Tiger_Moth: They are entitled to whine when there is one rule from the Government re social distancing and mixing in groups i.e. no funerals ,weddings, christenings ,you name it we can't do it or we get heavily fined, then they blatantly break the rules for their own private soirees .
The man has lied on more than one occasion and the beans are being well and truly spilled about many other faux pas.

He's a politician you dumbbell, not a boy scout leader.
He spent his life training for this, in one of the best schools for leading the peasants, in the world. You should be proud of him
Youcannow: So which other liar do you want to take over ?
Good point J.
Trouble is that all these incidents took place when we were all restricted so there are many people who have a total right to complain and seek some form of justice.
My old Dad used to say that a Coalition Government is what we needed to create some balance. Can't imagine one with the muppets we have in Parliament at the moment.

The problem is , that anyone who is capable of running the country was participating in the illegal gatherings at no10 . Unfortunately, we have to accept that anyone who is capable of leading a country is either a liar , or a/and corrupt!

In other words history repeating itself in many ways.
