Russia has warned of "serious military and political repercussions" if Finland joins NATO amid the Ukraine crisis.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said the country's accession to NATO, the military alliance currently made up of 28 European countries plus the US and Canada, could "have detrimental consequences".

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine this week, Finnish prime minister Sanna Marin said the debate surrounding Finland's membership of NATO "will change".

Of course it won't stop at Ukraine..This is old news

Why is it as soon as anyone on here hears something on the news they automatically have to have a thread which has turned the forums into a war zone?

Why not attach something you heard to another war thread that you or someone else has started?

Thank you for agreeing with me. I would point out I was the first to introduce a Ukraine thread.

Finland has been the victim of Russian aggression in the past.

We all need to be aware of what goes on around the World Mercedes. My thread was posted once Russia had started the invasion not before as the rest was just circumspect.

I have read with interest from those that actually live in the area and can see both sides of this incursion but it doesn't stop the bad feeling that I have for those involved on the ground.handshake

Didnt Finland betray Germany before? Finland is smart this time and not extend the continuation war. Unlike uncle joe stalin, putin has not thinned out his military leadership, that i know of anywas.

Tom, stop talking soft would ya.. I don't think you're a fool but when you post this kind of rubbish I kinda have to wonder...

Russia is NOT going to invade Finland ..That journalist is talking total rubbish. He's [robably just trying to scaremonger and perpetuate the rediculous narrative the rest of his colleagues are going on with...

I meant to add. Finland also gets 94% of its gas from Russia...

You hardly believe Putin would cut off one of his biggest customers just so he could invade, when he already has that country eating out of his hand and is 94% reliant on Russian gas??

You need to start thinking about what you're actually posting Tom and asking yourself could this be true....

Propoganda is easily spouted off by western media and governments because it's all jsut rants and crazy accusations, if not outright lies and they don't need to show any actual proof..., but if you look at the hard facts that the propoganda don't mention, turn the narrative around and ask yourself could that be closer to the truth, then you might get closer to the a actualn truth...

If what their saying is all true then why are they only using sactions,.why aren't there already US and UK troops in the Ukraine defending Kiev? Becuase they can't, they know Putin has just check mated them and there is no where for Biden, Nato, Boris, france etc to turn...sanctions are laughable tbh...just laughable becuase the only ones they're going to actually hurt is the west....

What about cutting him off from SWIFT? Years ago, I'd hazard a guess it's at least 8 years now, Russia, China and many other countries got together and decided to set up their own version of SWiFT....They also decided not to use dollars and that sent the US into a tail spin...because other countries were wanting to join, as was Germany...(remember Angela merkels phone being tapped and her demading Germany's gold back that's being held by the US? ) . If they cut Russia out of the SWIFT system then Putin will just engage their alternative (it was discussed around the same time China's CIP's) I can't remember if it was put in place,, I doubt it was, but you can be damn sure it's there on the back boiler ready to be used becuase they always knew the US would use this as a weapon against them ...And Biden knows this too...

Putin doesn't need to invade anywhere or waste one single penny on a single bullet....
...
All he needs to do is trip the gas switch to "off" and he's won every single war , battle, skirmish...he doesn't need one single bullet to destroy the west and he knows it....as does Biden, BJ, etc etc et.c..

he has them snookered..The only way out for them are limp wristed sanctions or WW3...and the west won't win the latter...and they know it...so they will blow the impact of sanctions out of proportion and tell their stupid civilians how powerful sanctions are...

Good afternoon! . Reading all the posts, I was horrified. How the situation is reversed here. I live in Almaty and I know how foreign journalists spoke about the situation of the seizure of power in Kazakhstan. We experienced 10 terrible days in January. I myself saw a lot with my own eyes. Many acquaintances were injured and maimed, and some died. If not for the help of Russia and the Commonwealth countries, we would have had a full-scale war. So I want to say, people check the information, and do not be fooled by what Western news pours into your ears. Sorry, I'm tired of looking at the lies that are put into people's heads. Russia is not the aggressor.

It's just a cry from the heart. It's a pity for people suffering through the fault of politicians fighting for power and not thinking about people. This is what Ukraine has been doing for 8 years, keeping Lugansk and Donbass in horror. People live in basements. afraid to die. And this is in peacetime?
