I bought a new pillow today, and will be trying it out tonight. I have never been able to find a comfortable pillow, so I am used to being disappointed in bed, but I haven't given up hope that the right one will come along some day. And maybe tonight will be the night.

snowlynx: Have you tried an orthopedic pillow?
No. I've tried cheap Tesco pillows, and expensive M&S feather pillows. The ones I bought today are from M&S, and weren't particularly cheap, but not as expensive as the feather pillows.

BB_snickers: Perhaps you've been sleeping upside down.
No, I'll tell you what my problem is. My ear tends to go numb after a while if I lay on one side for too long. Maybe I've got poor circulation. What I need is an ear friendly pillow, but no one seems to have addressed that particular gap in the market.

one of those air gel memory foam ones?
maybe it's not the pillow .... maybe your head is too heavy?
Memory foam comes in different density and if you go to a specialist and discribe your needs, they will get the right density pillow or mattress tailored to your body needs.
I know this because a friend of mine had a terrible car crash and could not use ordinary mattrasses or pillows afterwards. But she managed to get the perfect ones after some trials which was all included in the price.

It seems a lot of trouble to go to, not to mention expense, for an uncomfortable ear, Sel. Do you think they would take me seriously?

I had the memory foam "microfibre" pillows from Primark in Spain. Took a couple of weeks to get used to them as you only need "one" as they're quite firm. I always used 2 pillows. When I moved back to the Uk, I tried 3 different types of the memory foam ones but just couldn't get used to them, they just wasn't the same and more expensive. Luckily, I found the same ones in Primark here. It's says you can't wash them but I use protectors anyway. They were only £12 each so just buy another set when needed. Trial and error I guess, but I love the ones I've got
