Oregon is in the process of negotiating college athletes earning a salary. The opposition is meritous: they already receive a substantial financial aid package which includes housing, household costs, tuition, books, meal cards, and actual cash/pocket money. However, the promoters point out that games, especially Beavers and Ducks, bring in an enormous amount of revenue. This seems, to many, to be counter- productive to state administered education, which, theoretically, needs to be available to all qualifying Oregon citizens. (It’s not…in fact quite unreachable for many…) I understand both points of view, but since this thread asks the question, I think college sports should stay the way it is ( college costs covered) and the exponential revenue be banked in a program to give financial aid to low-income students who are successful in other areas, academics, The Arts, etc…I personally think, for athletes, that a full ride, with spending money to boot, is quite fair enough.

Ive got an idea ( because you’ve said this kind of thing before…I DO get it, too) how about developing a thread regarding what you like and find interesting, and see if that carry’s well. Who knows, some of us might really connect with you, and have thoughts to add…just a thought…
