Yes. But oftentimes it's learned not by us but by our ancestors. You don't have to seen a snake before to instinctively avoid it. That's a common one. Or it could be more usual. The descendants of holocaust survivors are disturbed and uptight even when they don't know who their ancestors were. Particularly down the maternal line; you've got a damaged mum or Nan. The effects of a damaged father is less likely to be devastating to posterity.

Wallowing women pass the trauma on through the womb it's at least one reason why we instinctively protect them from harm. Because it's so much harder for her. Literally, by that I mean genetically, we'd never hear the end of it. History will come back to haunt us in a way that male suffering is not passed on down the ages

I disagree. I saw a video of a baby trying to pet a snake and the snake will try to attack but the baby kept trying to touch it.
So no survival instinct in that baby at all. Not even from ancestors.

It also can be from a childhood story which stays in the background of some persons life.

It truly is what we can get over, what we can see as a truth But soldiers and others with PSD it can live on. A bang in the street can make a person fear for his-her life.

That's different. Babies don't inherit that kind of survival skills like would an animal because babies are protected by parents for many years.
Trauma memories do get passed down maternal ancestral lines and also eventually, if the trauma persists it will eventually become a "mutation" to protect from that trauma for example.

I read the most fascinating book recently about that particular subject. "The Seven Daughters of Eve" is a 2001 book by Bryan Sykes that presents the science of human mitochondrial genetics to a general audience. Sykes explains the principles of genetics and human evolution, the particularities of mitochondrial DNA, and analyses of ancient DNA to genetically link modern humans to prehistoric ancestors.

Pedro, what do you think is the difference between being aware that something is "dangerous" and taking adequate steps for one's protection and "fearing" that something that is dangerous?

Fear is evil and it will change your life if you let it.

Never put yourself in harm's way,
and if you find yourself
in harm's way, think clearly and remove yourself.

The woman prayed for healing, so yes.
When you have the knowledge of family history, it can also heal.

The truth needs to be passed down or you may never heal.

... I have a lot of memories of when I was a very small baby from about 6 months and up... and I can still remember the kinda stuff that went through my mind..No language skills whatsover, words had no meaning, they were just wordless thoughts (it's hard to explain) .There was no fear at all...actually there was very little emotion ...just an abiding curiosity about everything.... so I dunno, I'm inclined to think it's instilled/learned...

There is the self preservation thing though, but I don't think that manifests itself until later in life...maybe 10 or 11 years old I imagine.... if something hurts us we will learn to avoid it...is that the same thing as fear? I dunno....dunno

Yes I understand that "toxic secrets" are the most damaging handshake

I wonder if the descendants of a holocaust survivor (for instance) would be born with the same type of awareness you describe or whether there might be some unformulated/unexplained anxiety ....
