And I would argue that even now we can see the socially conservative leftism that will be this century's 1950s. Generous like the left but stifling like the right. Consider it the reward for exercising a self-restraint that humanity never did before. In the modern world it's much harder to stay in-shape, harder to be fertile, and yet even more hard to settle down with a wife instead of spending your free time however way you want to.
