From Merriam-webster thesaurus:usage
Some common synonyms of usage are custom, habit, practice, and wont. While all these words mean "a way of acting fixed through repetition," usage suggests a customary action so generally followed that it has become a social norm. Where would custom be a reasonable alternative to usage?

You didn't know or understand what I meant so you had to actually look up the word? .... doh laugh

To use is a verb

Adding the suffix "age" converts it to a noun

There is no such word in the context it was used (by whoever it was)

No, the word was used as a noun. It would be incorrect to say it was usaged as a noun.rolling on the floor laughing

Usage is more accurate in this context, although "use" would be acceptable.

Usage connotes habitual practice, ongoing or continued "use." Look it up if you doubt it. Raph gets it.

Galrads habitually misuses who/whom, and makes a point of claiming he has it right. Recently he started a thread "Whom is . . . " This obviously sounds cringe-worthy to most people. For those who are grammatically challenged, try this.

A simple rule to chose correctly between who and whom: The best way to remember the difference is with the he/him or she/her rule: If you can replace who or whom in a sentence with he/she then use who. If you can replace it with him/her then use whom.

Applying that rule to the above thread title, you can see that Galrads should have used "who." The pronoun him/her is incorrect, and he/she is correct. Not even he would begin a sentence with "him is."

I'm a published author, an English teacher, and a teacher of expository writing. I'm well-schooled in language and it's important to me because clear communication is important.

The bloviator in this thread title is the author of mangled and confusing comments which result in much needling for him. Maybe he likes the attention regardless, and maybe someday he'll grasp the mysteries of who/whom usage.

Thank you for clearing up the mistaken opinion that "usage" was incorrectly used, it is sad fact that often Asian English students have a better understanding of grammar than can be found with native English speakers here in CS-land.
